The first T20 International (T20I) between India and Sri Lanka turned out to be an absolute thriller where the hosts defeated the visitors by two runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Chasing 163, the Islanders did have small partnerships throughout the game but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Dasun Shanaka kept Sri Lanka in the game and fought hard with his ??27-ball 45-run knock laced up with three fours and as many sixes, but the Lankans lost ??the momentum soon after his dismissal.
Debutant Shivam Mavi had a memorable game with the ball as the right-arm pacer went on to pick a four-wicket haul while giving away only 22 runs in?? his quota of 4 overs. The game did go to the wire, where India managed to win the las??t ball-thriller.
Earlier, the Men in Blue were in a spot of bother after losing their five wickets inside 100 runs before Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel brought back the hosts on the ri??ght track. The duo put on a brilliant unbeaten partnership of 68 runs for the sixth wicket to take their side to 162/5 in 20 overs.
While Hooda smashed an undefeated 41 from 23 deliveries with the help of five boundarie??s, including four sixes, Axar remained not out on 31 off 20 balls, including three fours and a?? maximum.
Apart from Hooda and Axar, opener Ishan Kishan and captain Hardik Pandya chipped in with vital contributions of 37 and 29, respectively. For the tourists, Wanindu Hasaranga was the least expensive bowler a??s he conceded 22 runs in his quota of 4 overs and picked up the prized ??scalp of Kishan.

]]>The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one such tournament that often put compatriots against each other. However, after every game, playe??rs always take time to catch up with their friends? belonging to opposite teams.
The companionship was on display again after the game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the Rishabh Pant a?nd Co. had recor?ded the 7-wicket win over KKR on Thursday.
DC opener Prithvi Shaw was the sta?r of the night as he guided his side to get over the finish line with a spectacular knock of 82 runs from 41 deliveries at a breathtaking strike rate of 200.
Shaw started the proceedings in grand style as he took Shivam Mavi to the cleaners in the very first over of DC’s chase. The right-handed batsman hit all six legal deliveries for fours and entered his name in record books. He became the second batsman in IPL history after Ajinkya Rahane to smash six boundaries in an over.
After the match, both players were involved in a hilarious moment as Mavi was jokingly spotted grabbing Shaw’s neck. The Mumbaikar was left wincing, but it also showed the duo’s bonding as they were part of the U-19 World Cup-winning team of the 2018 batch.
The official Twitter handle of IPL shared the video with a caption: “Once the match is completed, friendship takes over. The beauty of #VIVOIPL @PrithviShaw @ShivamMavi23.”

When it comes to DC players, opener Shikhar Dhawan is currently holding the orange cap with 311 runs from seven matches. In the bowling department, their pacer Avesh Khan is the se??cond-highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far.?? The right-armer has bagged 13 wickets from seven games.
DC’s next fixture is against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the same venue on Sunday (May 2).

]]>Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been dealt with a few injury c?oncerns ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 that is scheduled to begin from March 2??3.
19-year-old fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been ruled for a second time running as he’s yet to recover from a back injury. Knight Riders have roped in Kerala pacer Sandeep Warrier as his replacement.
Warrier, who was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set up for the last three IPL seasons, but was unable to get a game, went unsold in the mega auctions last December. He was one of the stars in Kerala’s historic performance in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 picking 44 wickets.
Nagarkoti, who was bought by KKR for Rs 3.2 crore in the 2018 IPL auction, was one of the prime members of India’s Under-19 World Cup title-winning team. He is currently recovering at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and will need another two to three months to fully recover.
In another blow to the pace department, Shivam Mavi, who was also part of the U-19 World Cup winning team last year, has been ruled out of the upcoming IPL season with a stress fracture in his back. Mavi, who plays for Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit, is likely to be out of action for at? least six months.
KKR will start their IPL 2019 campaign with a home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 24.
