After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India A squad for the New Zealand series at home, Saurashtra batter Sheldon Jackson expressed his disappo?intment as the seasoned campaigner was yet again overlooked by the select??????????????????????????ors.

Jackson averages 50+ in 79 First Class matches but hasn’t received a major India call-up till now. Apart from not being picked in India A squad, Jackson was also ignored by the West Zone for Duleep Trophy.

Two international players – Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna – have been named in the 16 member India A squad led by Priyank Panchal. Similarly, veteran Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane was named captain of th??e West Zone for the Duleep Trophy.

Meanwhile, Jackson – who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), couldn’t control his emotions and said he should be picked on the basis of his performances and not age.

“I have a right to believe and dream that if i have performed for 3 continuous season, i may get picked on the basis of my performances not age, tired of hearing this that I’m a good player and performer, but I’m old. I’m 35, not 75 (sic),” tweeted Jackson.

The 35-year-old was in fine form during the recently-concluded Ranji Trophy, amassing 313 runs in 3 matches, including four half-centuries. He has scored over 2000 runs in the last three seasons of domestic cricket and was rewarded with an IPL debut for KKR earlier this year. However, the wicketkeeper-batter couldn’t really perform to his potential in the cash-rich league.

In nine IPL matches across two seasons, Jackson has only scored?? 61 runs at an a?verage of a little over 10.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicket-keeper Sheldon Jackson earned plaudits from cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar for his heroi?cs in the opening game of Indian Premier League (I??PL) 2022 on Saturday.

During the clash against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings Jackson, showed the IPL world what they’ve got in him. The 35-year-old was lightning-fast behind the stumps when he stumped Robin Uthappa, giving KKR an important breakthrough. Uthappa was batting brilliantly, having scored 28 ru?ns off 20 deliveries, before being dismissed.

It all happened in the seventh over of the first innings. The ball delivered by KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy spun from the middle-stump to far down the leg side. Uthappa, who was already committed for a flick, stepped out of his crease but failed to read the ball, while Jackson removed the bails in a flash to send the CSK batter
back to the dug out.

In the meantime, Tendulkar took to Twitter and lauded the KKR glovesman. In praise of the highest order, the batting legend claimed Jackson reminded him of veteran stumper MS Dhoni.

As far the result of the match is concerned, Shreyas Iyer’s KKR defeated the Ravindra Jadeja-led CSK in IPL 2022 season opener at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. After a quick fall of wickets, captain Shreyas and Sam Billings stood affront a??nd ensured a win for the Knight Riders.

Ajinkya Rahane scored 44 runs while Umesh Yadav picked up two wickets as KKR registered a six-wicket victory over CSK with 9 balls to spare.

It all happened when a Twitter user mocked the legendary cricketer for his height after watching him during the pre-match show ahead of the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Thursday.

The Twitter user uploaded a snapshot of the clip where Gavaskar can be spotted standing between former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen and the anchor Neroli Meadows.

“Sunil Gavaskar looking so small,” the fan wrote in his tweet (which ??was later deleted).

When Sheldon saw the tweet, he didn’t hold himself back to criticize the fan. Sheldon retorted by reminding the user about the feats Gavaskar has achieved for the country. The 34-year-old also advised the fan to spread some positivity.

“maybe in heigh, but look what he has done and achieved for the country, not many tall men could achieve. you are a cricket fan as of what I learn and see from your tweet, there’s already a lot of negativity, try to spread a little positivity please,” wrote Sheldon.

Saurashtra wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson took a spe?ctacular one-handed catch against Andhra Pradesh in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The batsman who was dismissed courtesy of Jackson’s brilliance was Ashwin Hebber and he was facing Saurashtra bowler Chirag Jani. The medium pacer pitched the ball well outside off stump and Hebbar went chasing after it.

However, instead of placing it through the covers, the batsman just managed to edge it behind the stumps. For once it looked like that the ball would go past Jackson, bu??t the keeper simply dived to ?his right and completed a brilliant catch.
