Having enjoyed a prolific spell with the Perth Scorchers, Marsh made a move?? to the Melbourne Renegades for the 2019-2020 season, where he continued to be a key player in their lineup, averaging an impressive 47.46 in 40 games.

“I have loved playing for the Renegades, I’ve met some great people over the last five years and the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime. This playing group is special. They’ve been amazing to me, amazing team-mates and even better friends. Our members and fans are some of the most passionate out there and I’m so thankful for their support over the journey. “To the Renegades’ coaches and staff and everyone behind the scenes – thank you for backing me in from the start and over my final years. It’s made my job a little easier out in the middle. Melbourne Renegades marked a six-wicket victory over Melbourne Stars in Match 36 of the ongoing Big Bash League 2023-24 at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. The Will Sutherland-led side outclassed their rivals in every aspect of the game, marking their second victory in the ongoing edition of the tour??nament.

Dismal batting display by the Melbourne Stars

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the Renegades set a challenging tone for the opponents right from the start. Stars faced early setbacks, losing Thomas Rogers and Daniel Lawrence within the first four overs, with Lawrence contributing eight and Rogers 23 runs. Despite a quick 20 off ten balls from Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis fell early with just two runs.

The innings found stability through a pivotal 31-run partnership between Beau Webster and Hilton Cartwright for the fifth wicket. Still, Webster’s departure after scoring 29 left the responsibility on Cartwright, who anchored the innings with 38 runs. The resilience continued with Imad Wasim, who contributed 27 runs for the sixth wicket before departing at 14. In the final over, Cartwright fell, concluding the Stars’ innings at 137/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Shaun Marsh shines in chase for Melbourne Renegades

Chasing a target of 138, the Renegades encountered an early setback as Aaron Finch departed for a three-ball duck in his final BBL game in the face of challenging bowling conditions. Jake Fraser-McGurk, however, entered with a positive approach, while Shaun Marsh took his time to settle. The duo played a crucial role in steadying the innings durin??g the middle overs, showcasing a blend of beautiful strokes and resilience.

At the 10-over mark, the Renegades were 74/1 and opted for the Power Surge. Fraser-McGurk’s aggressive innings of 42 off 31 balls ended in the 11th over, but the Stars’ comeback was short-lived as they quickly dismissed Jordan Cox (4) and Will Sutherland (10).

Jonathan Wells joined Marsh, who reached his fifty off 42 ba??lls, displ??aying composure and experience. The pair ensured a smooth chase, with Marsh finishing unbeaten on 64 and Wells on 14, guiding the Renegades to victory in the 18th over.

Shaun Marsh, a left-handed batter from Western Australia, has announce??d his retirement from first-class cricket after dedicating 22 years of service to the sport at the Sheffield Shield level. He also played in 73 ODI matches for Australia, showcasing his talent and love for the game throughout his career.

Marsh made his first-class debut at the young age of 17 in 2001 for Western Australia. He went on to achieve a significant milestone in his career, which was winning a Sheffield Shield title last season. He even captained the team during the final in the absence of his brother Mitchell Marsh, fulfilling a career-long ambition.

Despite being 39 years old, Marsh decided to play another season in 2022-23. Unfortunately, he has been hampered by injuries and only managed to participate in one Shield game this summer. Marsh had just returned to Perth club cricket afte??r sustaining a fractured finger when he made the decision to retire from first-class cricket.

“I batted for about 20 minutes and the quicks came over…I said to V [WA coach Adam Voges] that I’m done and want to do my weights [session],” Marsh told the reporters. “I probably did half my weights [session]. I walked out and thought, ‘that’s not me’. Over the last 24 hours it hit home that my time is done.

“It’s been an amazing journey, never in my wildest dreams did I think that I’d be here for 22 years and that’s something that I’m very proud of,” he added.

Marsh’s retirement is effective immediately, which means that he will not be able to participate in Western Australia’s bid to defend their title. They are set to play Victoria at the WACA next week, with the final starting on March 23. Marsh’s absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team, but they will no doubt want to make their captain’s final season a memorable one.

Fast bowlers are often given cool names in cricket, which justify their fierce bowling. From Shoaib Akhtar to Brett Lee, bowlers from diffe?rent teams have dominated with their scary pace.

In the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), there is another bowler naming Lance Morris, who is breaking the charts with his extreme speed in the exci??ting league.

Lance has been named “Wild Thing” for his super-fast bowling. The 21-year-old bowler exhibited his ultimate pace in the 30th match between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.

During the fourth over of the Renegades innings, Lance bowled a good length delivery at the off-stump, which was slammed by Shaun Marsh. However, it did more damage to Marsh’s bat.

The impact of Lance’s ball was so hard that Marsh’s bat got split into two parts. Marsh was seen raising his broken bat to indicate what exactly happened.

The official Twitter handle of BB??L posted a v??ideo of the incident.

“Lance’ Wild Thing’ Morris has his first Big Bash victim… Shaun Marsh’s bat!! #BBL09,” tweeted BBL.

In the match, Renegade?s posted 168-7 in their stipulated 20 overs. Marsh was their highest scorer (63).

Stars chased?? down the target with eight balls to spare and won the match by 7 wickets, thanks to the phenomenal batting display by Glenn Maxwell, who smashed 83 off just 45 balls.

Australia’s middle-order batsman Shaun Marsh has been ruled out of the remaining ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after breaking his arm in the net session.

The 35-year-old – who made two appearances at the World Cup, scoring a total of 26 runs – will be replaced in the squad by Peter Handscomb.

Marsh got injured while facing teammate Pat Cummins in the n??ets at Old Trafford on Thursday.

The injury makes Marsh a major doubt for the Ashes, which starts on August 1 with the fir?st Test at Edgbaston.

“Unfortunately, the scans have revealed Shaun has suffered a fracture to his forearm which will require surgery,” Australia coach Justin Langer said. “We are right behind him in his recovery.”

Thursday’s practice session, which took place two days before defending champions Australia’s final round-robin game against South Africa, also saw all-rounder Glenn Maxwell taken to hospital for a check-up after he got injured while batting against Mitchell Starc.

“The scans have cleared Glenn of any serious damage and we’ll continue to monitor him over the coming days,” Langer said. “We are hopeful he will be fit to perform for us on Saturday against South Africa.”

Australia have already qualified for the World Cup semi-finals and victory over Sout??h Africa will take them to the top of ??the points table and set up a semi-final clash against New Zealand on July 9.

In the third ODI between India and Australia at the MCG, though Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni did drop Shaun Marsh’s catch earlier in the innings, he certainly made up for the mistake and sent the same Aussie batsman packing with a lightning quick stumping behind the stumps.

The stumping dismissal on the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal ear??ned Marsh a spot in the list of an unwanted record.

It was the 6th instance for the left-handed batsman that he was dismissed via a stumping in 60 matches. The nature of dismissal earned him second spot in the list of most stumping dismissals, behind England’s Nasser Hussain. Marsh, however, is now the Australian batsman with most such dismissals, ahead of Tom Moody.

Chah??al bowled a widish delivery and forced Dhoni to collect the ball way out on the leg side. As Marsh went down the track, he missed the line of the ball complet??ely and could not make a return back into the crease, the bails were dislodged by Dhoni.
