The second day of the Pakistan vs England 2nd Test ended with Pakistan having a slight upper hand after a dramatic day of cricket. Despite a solid start by England’s openers, Pakistan fought back brilliantly in the final session, led by Sajid Khan‘s impactful bowling. England’s early dominance fades after strong start

After Pakistan was bowled out for 366 in their first innings, England’s openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave their team a solid start. Pakistan’s morning session heroics

Earlier in the day, Pakistan started their innings at 314/6, adding 52 more runs before being bowled out. Mohammad Rizwan was the first to depart, caught behind off Brydon Carse‘s short-of-length delivery. However, Agha Salman s??hifted gears and ??scored fluently, finding the boundary at regular intervals. He received solid support from Jamal, and the pair added a steady 38-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Salman’s aggressive stroke play, including boundaries off Matthew Potts, helped Pakistan surpass the 350-run mark. Potts, however, got his revenge by dismissing Salman with a delivery that had extra bounce. Pakistan’s lower order did not last long as Sajid was lured into a drive and fell to Jack Leach, chipping the b??all to cover. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 366 in 123.3 overs, setting a challenging total for England.

In the 23rd over of England’s first innings, Sajid Khan provided Pakistan with a much-needed breakthrough, dismissing Pope. The 89kph delivery pitched outside off, inviting Pope to drive through the covers, but it sharply spun back through the gap to hit the off-stump. Sajid’s classic off-spin delivery not only sent Pope packing but also ended a promising partnership. Sajid, clearly charged up after the dismissal, celebrated with a roar as Pakistan got a crucial breakthrough. Pope departed after scoring 29 from 37 balls, including four boundaries.

Pakistan’s first innings end on 366

Pakistan’s first innings total of 366 was built around a strong century by Kamran Ghulam, who scored 118, and an important knock of 77 from opener Saim Ayub.

Mohammad Rizwan contributed 41 runs before Brydon Carse dismissed him in the second session. England’s bowlers worked hard, with Jack Leach being the ??standout, picking? up 4 wickets for 114 runs, while Carse grabbed 3 for 50.

At stumps on Day 2, England found themselves reeling at 239/6, with Jamie Smith (12) and Carse (2) new to the crease after the quick dismissals of Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook and Ben Stokes in span of just 17 deliveries.

Root’s dismissal for 34 opened the flood gates as opener Duckett too departed after scoring a well-made 114.

Sajid’s four wickets for 86 runs has kept Pakistan in control, while England will be looking to close the gap on Day 3.
