Adelaide Strikers thrashed Hobart Hurricanes by 5 wickets in their reverse fixture in the ongoing Big B??ash League (BBL) 2020-21 Aurora Stadium i??n Launceston on Tuesday.

Hurricanes were blown away by the top-quality bowling of Peter Siddle. The right-arme??r bagged a five-wicket haul for just 16 runs. Siddle also recorded the fifth-best figures ever in the history of BBL.

Best bowling figures in BBL:

  • Lasith Malinga โ€?6/7, STA v SCO, WACA (BBL02)
  • Ish Sodhi โ€?6/11, STR v THU, Showground (BBL06)
  • Dan Christian โ€?5/14, HUR v STR, Hobart (BBL06)

For Hurricanes, wicketkeeper-batsman Ben McDermott and left-handed batter Colin Ingram played valuable knocks of 46 each to help their side reach a competitive total. Tim David played a handy inning of 24 down the order as Hurricanes wer??e bundled out for 146 in 19.3 overs.

Weatherald, Carey drive Strikers over the finish line

Chasing the target of 147, Strikers did not have a good start as they lost opening batsman Philip Salt for 6 runs in the very first over. As if the trouble wasn’t enough, No 3 batsman Matt Renshaw (2) was also dismissed in the same over. Hurricanes’ pacer James Faulkner provided the early breakthroughs.

Then, the pair of Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey steadied the innings. Both the batsmen added a crucial 107-run?? stand for the fourth w?icket.

While Carey scored? 55 off 40 deliveries laced up with 4 fours and a six, Weatherald remained?? unbeaten on 68 from 48 balls with the help of eight boundaries, including four huge sixes.

In the end??, Strikers chased down the target in 18.4 overs w?ith five wickets in hand.

betvisa888 betPeter Siddle – Cricket Times - betvisa888 cricket bet //betvisa68.com/2020/04/peter-siddle-reveals-his-all-time-opponent-xi-includes-two-indians/ Wed, 22 Apr 2020 13:03:32 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=40629

Australian fast bowler, Peter Siddle, has picked his all-time opponent XI, during a recent interaction.?? Siddle has been one of the spear??heads of Baggy Greens pace attack in the past.

The workhorse of Australian cricket has 221 Test scalps in his career, in 67 matches. Siddle bowle??d to some of the most formidable batting lineups around the world.

Out of them, left-handed opening batsmen Alastair Cook and Graeme Smith feature on top of Siddle’s opponent XI of all time. The two led the way for England and South Africa respectively at the top of the order.

“Two lefties… obviously great players… excellent captains in their own rights. But yeah, otherwise tough opponents whenever we came up against them,” Siddle told cricket.com.au.

Coming in at number three is Sri Lankan top-scorer in all formats, Kumar Sangakkara, who ?even batted at?? his favourite position for the country. However, Siddle did not hand the wicket-keeping duties to Sangakkara.

“Kumar Sangakkara at No.3. He is not the wicket-keeper of the side, and that is why he is batting at three,โ€?said Siddle.
The two Indians in Siddle’s lineup are Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and two-time World-Cup winning captain MS Dhoni.

“Sachin to be my first Test wicket was really really amazing. He was on a few runs by then too. All in all just to get my first Test wicket you know. I had to wait too long, once I did it felt good,” the 35-year-old said about Tendulkar.

The fifth and sixth position in the batting order is occupied South African masterclass of Jacques Kallis and AB de Vil?liers.

“I nearly forgot to put this man in the team, but Jacques Kallis comes in at No.6. If you are a bowler, you will be very happy with his stats. If you are a batter you will still be very happy with his stats. He has got almost the same number or just under the number of wickets as Brett Lee,” added Siddle.

Perhaps two greatest Test bowlers of his generation, James Anderson and Dale Steyn with 1023 wickets between them, are the strike bowlers in Siddle’s list. Meanwhile, Englandโ€™s Headingley hero Ben Stokes was named as 12th man in the lineup.

Peter Siddle’s all-time opponent XI:

Alastair Cook, Graeme Smit??h, Kumar Sangakkara, Sachin Tendulkar, AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis, MS Dhoni, Stuart Broad, Dale Steyn, Rangana Herath, James Anderson.

After the recently-concluded Boxing Day Test between Australia and New Zealand at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Aussie pacer Peter Siddle announced his international retirement after serving the country for mor?e than a decade.

The 35-year-old made his intentions clear to the team management after being released from the 15-member squad ahead of th?e upcoming third Test in Sydney.

Representing Australia in 67 Tests and managing a total of 221 wickets in the longest format of the game, Siddle has now turned his focus only to T20 cricket. He is currently representing Alex Carey-led table-toppers Adelaide Strikers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).

In the 17th match of BBL|09, Siddle made headlines with a brilliant run-out of Usman Khawaja (63) in the most cheeky manner possible. It was in the 14th over of the first innings where Khawaja went for a drive off Siddle and looked to steal a quick single. Due to miscommunication between skipper Callum Ferguson (73) and him, Khawaja was sent back, and the throw came at the bowler’s end to which a running Siddle (being away from the stumps) gathered the ball and reverse-flicked the bails to dismiss the batsman.

Cricket Australia also gave a reaction over the same post saying that if Peter Siddle is sure that he wants to retire from international cricket, “Are you sure you want to retire @petersiddle403?!?! #BBL09.”

Coming onto the match, Sydney Thunder? defeated Adelaide Strikers by a small margin of 3 ru??ns.

Fast bowler Peter Siddle has been recalled into Australia’s squad for the Boxing Day Test against New Zealand as a replacement for the injured Josh Hazlewood.

Siddle, 35, is likely to be a bowling reserve, with James Pattinson and Michael Neser already in the 13-man squad, but the final XI is yet to be confirmed??.

“Peter has been brought in as a 13th player for Melbourne. He is a proven Test match performer with an exceptional knowledge of the MCG which will be a valuable part of our preparation,” Australia chief selector Trevor Hohns said in a statement.

Speaking after the squad announcement, head coach Justin Langer defended the selection of Siddle who he said shouldn’t be shunned because of his age.

“I don’t think we should discriminate against Peter Siddle, who played the last Test match (of the Ashes), because of his age,” Langer said. “We’re all about winning this Test series and we believe if required he would be the guy to do that.”

A win at the MCG will see Australia seal the three-match series against New Zealand in successive games after claiming the first Test in Perth by 2??96 runs.

Meanwhile, James Pattinson, who has taken 75 wickets in his 19 Tests, is the front-runner to replace Hazle??wood in the playing XI.

Pete Siddle turned 35 on Monday (November 25, 2019). The Australian pacer made his international debut against India in 2008 and since then represented the Baggy ??Greens in 67 Test matches and 20 ODIs.

Although injuries have bogged his career, Siddle has still managed to pick 221 Test wickets and is 13th on the list of Australia’s all-time highest wicket-takers in the longest format.

Hat-trick on his birthday against England

England were steadily recovering with Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen at the crease?? after Ben Hilfenhaus gave visitors a worst possible start by dismissing their skipper Andrew Strauss in the third delivery of the first over on Day 1 of the first Test match in Brisb??ane.

Siddle first removed Pietersen and Paul Collingwood in successive over before the big moment. Twenty-five overs after his double scalp, Siddle returned – Australia had failed to remove any other English batsman and Cook, Ian Bell were busy doing the repair job – and sent Cook, Matt Prior and Stuart Broad back off three consecutive deliveries.

Cook departed after edging to first slip, Prior’s middle-stump was sent flying, and Broad was too slow to move and was caught in front of the wickets. Siddle, therefore, completed his maiden Test hat-trick on 26th birthday.

Since David Warner and Steve Smith are still out of the team and World Cup is coming near, Siddle believes this is the right time for the hosts to test out a f?ew optio??ns.

“We may not be at full strength, missing a few players we’d probably like to have for the World Cup, but at the same time itโ€™s opportunities. I never thought I’d get the opportunity to play one-day cricket for Australia again. I’d probably forgotten about it really … I feel like a young kid getting his first opportunity”, the Victorian added.
