“There was a time when my Dad had a Maruti 800 and he’s handicapped, so we could only afford that automatic car because it was the cheapest. Once while travelling in that, we saw a Mercedes and I really liked it, however my dad told me to look away because it was very costly,” Nitish said.

“There and then I decided whenever I have enough money, the first car I would buy would be a Mercedes and when I bought it for my dad, it was a very emotional moment for me and my Dad,” the 30-year-old added.

“I had become a senior member of the side in the last 3-4 years. I had got a leadership role in this period. This was started by Baz. He would always encourage me to think like a captain,” the Delhi-born-cricketer added.

Even after 61 matches, no team has yet confirmed their qualification spot in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). In the second contest of the Sunday’s double header, Kolk?ata Knight Riders (KKR) registered an impressive 6-wicket win over Chennai?? Batting first, CSK got off to a slow start with only Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway getting into double digits. Saachi Marwah, the wife of Indian cricketer Nitish Rana, was ?recently a victim of a terrifying incident where two boys fol?lowed and hit her car while returning home.

In an Instagram story, she narrated the enti?re incident and shared her dissatisfaction with the way the Delhi Police handled the situation. Despite her efforts to report the matter, she was advised by the authorities to let it go since she had already arrived home safely. They suggested that she should note down the number of the vehicle in case of a similar incident in the future.

“Just a casual day in Delhi, on my way back home from work! These guys randomly started hitting my car! Just no reason, stalked and chased and the police told me on the phone when I complained, ‘so now that you’ve reached home safe, let it go! Next time, number note kar lena’ (note the number next time), aye aye captain, next time, I’ll take their phone numbers also!” Saachi wrote on her Instagram story.

The 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registering a jaw-dropping victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in an exciting encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday (May 4). The co?ntest witnessed KKR pulling off a stunning 5-run win in a nail-biting thriller courtesy of Varun Chakravarthy’s magical last over.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, KKR posted a competitive total of 171/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Rinku Singh top-scored for his team with 46 runs off 35 balls, while Nitish Rana and Andre Russell also made valuable contributions of 42 and 24 runs. At the same time, Marco Jansen was the pick of the bowlers for SRH, taking two wicke?ts.

In reply, Hyderabad got off to a decent start, with Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen scoring 41 and 36 runs.?? Although when it almost felt like that SRH would comfortably win the game, KKR bowl?ers turned the tables with their stunning performances and snatched a sensational victory from the jaws of defeat for their side.

What turned out to be the masterstroke in the match was Kolkata skipper Nitish’s decision to make Chakravarthy bowl the final over with eight runs to defend. The 31-year-old spinner didn’t disappoint his captain and gave just three runs off the final six balls making Hyderabad end their innings five runs short of the target, i.e. on a score of 166/8 in their 20 overs. Chakravarthy was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for holding his nerve in the crunch moment and bagging one scalp for his team.

Speaking in the post-match presentation after the win, Nitish told how his gamble of bringing in Shardul Thakur and Vaibhav Arora in the middle overs paid off. He also re??vealed the reason behind his match-winning decision of giving the ball to Chakravarthy in the final over and said that despite being doubtful, he backed his spinner.

“In the middle we bowled a few loose overs and took a gamble with Shardul and Vaibhav and they managed to get both set batters and that’s how we made a comeback in this game. We had to get them out because if they bat till the end, then surely the game would have gone out of our reach,” said Nitish.

“I had a doubt if I had to go with spinner or pacer and backed my spinner to do the job. I always see who is the best spinner in the game and that’s how I decide whom to back on the given day,” he added.

During IPL 2023 Match 22 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, a heated exchange occurred? between KKR captain Nitish Rana and MI spinner Hrithik ??Shokeen. This is not the first time the two players have had a flare-up as they have a history between them. Despite being on the same team, the players’ personal issues seem to have carried over onto the field.

Rana had an ordinary game with the bat, falling for five off 10 balls. On the other hand, Shokeen was a busy player, taking a sharp catch to dismiss N Jagadeesan early on off Cameron Green at the ??cover point. Shokeen also returned with figures of 4-0-39-2, accounting for KKR all-rounder Shardul Thakur.

The fines imposed on Rana and Shokeen were appropriate consequences for their actions on the field. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding. This incident highlights the need for players to maintain their composure and respect each other on the field, regardless of any personal issues they may have off the field.
