Indian Speedster Navdeep Saini was named in India A squad touring South Africa for the three four-day unofficial Test matches started on November 23. After the first? unofficial match resulted in a draw, India A are currently playing their second unofficial match at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.

Saini, who clinched four wickets in the first unofficial Test, showed more aggressive form in the second contest after registering three wickets of South Africa A in ?the first innings.

Out of three Wickets, the jaw-dropping moment was caught in the 93rd over, when the 29-year-old beautifully uprooted Beuran Hendricks‘ off stump on a good-length delivery. Hendrick, who was playing on 2 off 7 balls, was completely beaten by the Saini’s top-notch bowling.

Coming to the match, South Africa A won the toss and opted to bat first. The host posted a total of 297/10 runs on the board in 105.5 overs. All-rounder Macro Jansen played a promising knock of 70 runs off 123 balls to help his team in setting a big total. Along with Jansen, Sarel Erwee (38 off 92), Van Tonder (34 off 87), Zubayr Hamza (31 Off 80), and George Linde (44?? off 63), small contributions took South Africa to a fig??hting total of 297.

Pacer Ishan Porel and Saini destroyed the batting-line up and booked three wicke?ts e?ach.

In reply, India A opening batter Prithvi Shaw and skipper Priyank Panchal made 57 runs of partnership for the first wicket. However, Panchal was departed in the 12th over by pacer Glenton Stuurman for 24 off 32. In? the? same over, Stuurman also dismissed batter Abhimanyu Easwaran for a duck.

On Day 2, India A scored 198/5 after 59 overs, trailing by 99 runs with Hanuma Vihari (45off 146) and Sarfaraz Khan (30 off 51) at the crease.

The Indian medical team is working hard and putting every possible effort to ensure fast bowler Navdeep Saini can bowl in Australia’s second innings of the ongoing fourth Test in Brisbane.

Saini had walked off the ground after suffering a groin injury on Friday. He was later taken for scans and did not return to bowl during Australia’s first innings.

Saini’s injury came as a fresh blow to the visitors who are already missing the presence of many key players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja in the final Test.

Speaking to ANI, sources related to the Indian team said that the medical team is keeping its nose to the grindstone to make sure that Saini takes the field when Ajinkya Rahane and Co. will come to bowl in the second innings.

“The medical team is working on Saini. He has a groin injury, but they are trying their best to ensure that he can take the field in the second innings,” the source said.

Natarajan, Sundar impressed on debut

In the absence of mainstay bowlers, India have played four pacers and one spinner in the fourth Test. While T Natarajan earned his maiden Test cap in the pace department, Washington Sundar was handed his debut to? replace Ashwi??n in the team.

The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be sweating on Navdeep Saini’s fitness as the fast bowler split his webbing during the game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday.

In the 18th over of CSK’s run chase, Saini tried to stop one of MS Dhoni’s shot off h?is o??wn bowling but in process suffered an injury in his right thumb. Saini soon after completing his over rushed off the field and has now got stitches.

RCB physio Evan Speechly is unsure about the pacer’s recovery time which has left the management worried.

“Saini has split his webbing in the last ball there. He obviously got hit on the thumb on the right hand. He has just split the webbing over there, fortunately, we had a good hand surgeon, he stitched up nicely. So we could just monitor over the night and check it after getting ready for the next game,” Speechly was quoted as saying by ANI.

The injury is similar to what Virat suffered four years ago. At the time, the RCB skipper had eigh?t stitches ?on his right hand but continued to play. He finished that IPL season with 973 runs, which is the most by a batsman in a single edition.

“Virat four-five years ago had it in Kolkata. We managed to stop the bleeding, and he smashed a 100 [113, against the Kings XI Punjab] after we got a plastic surgeon who had stitched it. Unfortunately, you cannot compare the two injuries,” Speechly explained. “Some people manage it, and some can’t.

“It’s also because Saini’s injury is on his bowling hand, so it puts a lot of pressure on him. I cannot be sure when he will be good to go. I am hoping that he will be good to play in the next game and the rest of the tournament.”

Saini has been a vital cog for RCB since the last two seasons. This year, he has so far played in all the eleven games. Though the 27-year-old has only picked up five wickets, he has been among the most economical pacers in the team, conceding just 7.95 runs an over.

In the ongoing IPL, RCB have won seven out of their 11 games and are set to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they finished runners-up. The Challengers will lock horns with two of the top three teams – Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals – in their remaining games to round off the league stage.
