Former Indian cricketer, MS Dhoni, has inspired a generation of cricketers, ??in both his native country as well as all prominent cricketing nations.

During the promotional video shoot of the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup, the likes of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Vi?rat Kohli heaped praises on Dhoni. The video encapsulated the amount of respect garnered by Dhoni ?globally during his illustrious 15-year-long career.

Over the years, Dhoni donned the role of a wizardly wicket-keeper, feared finisher, and a calm and composed cap??tain. The Jharkhand stalwart helped India win the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 OD?I World, 2013 Champions Trophy, and the ICC Test Maze in 2008.

Dhoni is the only captain to clinch all prominent ICC titles. As a result, he finished as the most decorated captain in the history of the sport. Even after stepping down from captaincy, Dhoni ??marshalled the Indian troops from behind the stumps, grooming the youngsters in the squad.

The greatest legacy left behind by MSD is a world-class unit, which he handed o??ver to young Virat in 2017. Mahi came into the team in the presence of a star-studded India?n lineup in 2004.

During his tenure as captain, Dhoni was responsible for a smooth transition in the Indian team, with the retirement of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dra?vid, Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman.

Watching Dhoni in action on the field inspired many cricketers, including Afghanistan’s wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Shahzad. As the Ranchi-born cricketer announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday, tributes for the talismanic cricketer started to flood all over social media.

Shahzad also took to Twitter to pay his tribute for the former Indian captain. “It’s really sad to hear that my favourite and role model MS DOHNI is retiring from cricket. His services to Indian cricket is unforgettable, I will definitely miss you in the field of cricket and your kind advises for my improvement @msdhoni. miss you Mahi,” Shahzad tweeted.

Hard-hitting Afghanistan wicket?-keeper batsman, who has been out of international action for a while, is all set to return in national colors? after Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) lifted the ban imposed on him on Wednesday.

Earlier, the board imposed the ban on the flamboyant opening batsman after he was found breaching code of conduct for tou??ring abroad to feature in the tournament without thei?r consent.

Shahzad was also pulled out of the World Cup last year in England, mid-way, after he suffered an injury to the knee. However, Shahzad claimed that he was sent back home unjustly as he was fit enough to p?lay the matches in the multilateral event.

ACB on Wednesday took to its social media handle to break the news. “ACB Discipline Committee lifts playing ban on Wicket-Keeper Batman @MShahzad077 after Chairman @Farhan_YusEfzai accepted his (MS) mercy appeal but, his contract ban will continue till the imposed date August 2020. (sic),” the board posted.

“As per ACB’s policies, any player traveling out of the country is required to seek the permission of ACB. Shahzad has not adhered to this, repetitively,” ACB stated in a press release earlier last year in August.

“Mohammad Shahzad did not attend meetings scheduled with the Discipline Committee on 20th and 25th of the last month. The Discipline Committee will meet after Eid-ul Adha holidays to assess the breaches by Mohammad Shahzad and make a decision to be published soon,” concluded ACB’s statement.
.
Later, the 33-year-old, who gained prominence with his swashbuckling approac?h at the T20 World Cup in 2016, retaliated?? by saying that he did not wish to represent Afghanistan anymore.

“I don’t see myself playing anymore. It’s a dream to play in the World Cup. I was removed from the 2015 World Cup [he wasn’t selected for fitness reasons] and now this one as well. I am going to consult with friends and family. My heart isn’t in cricket anymore,” Shahzad commented, according to India Today.

Afghanistan plays Irela??nd next for a three-match T20I series at their adopted home-ground in Greater Noida, starting March 6. However, Shahzad is not include??d in the squad.

Mohammad Shahzad was recently suspended for a year by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). It was the discipline committee of the B?oard that gave him the harsh pun??ishment for breaching some code of conduct. However, they did not provide further details.

?During the 2019 World Cup, he played a few games after whic??h he was ruled out midway supposedly due to an injury. Not happy with the unfair decision, a frustrated Shahzad said that he was fully fit to play.

The wicketkeeper-batsman revealed that there wa?s immense politics involved in sending him back home. According to him, only the skipper Gulbadin Naib, the coach and the manager knew about his sudden omission. The remaining members of the team were shocked. Feeling cheated, Shahzad accused some board officials of conspiri?ng against him.

Afghanistan will play ?a one-off T??est against Bangladesh in Chattogram next month.

On the oth?er hand, the right-hander would be looking to g??et into the team for the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.

Meanwhile, the social media was abuzz with rumours that he?? had taken a massive step post his suspension.

Several people blamed the 31-year-old for ruining h?is own career by tearing his passport apart. This incident caused him to release a video, where he showed both his expired and new Afghan passport.

On Sunday, Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the suspension of wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad from all forms of cricket for one year. Shahzad was found guilty by the Discipline Committee for the breach of ACB’s code of conduct.

Afghanistan cricket players need to seek permission from the board to travel outside the country. As per the board, Shahzad went abroad several times without permission violating ACB’s policy.

Earlier this week, ACB suspended the contract of Mohammad Shahzad for an indefinit??e period as they were waiting for the Discipline Committee’s report.

During the ICC World Cup 2019, Shahzad was removed from the squad in the middle of the tournament citing a knee injury. The opening batsman later came on social media claiming that the board didn’t consult him before making their decision.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad has threatened the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) of quitting cricket after he was forcefully asked to leave the 2019 World Cup ca??mpaign midway.

The 32-year-old Shahzad, who has been replaced by Ikram Alikhil, played Afghanistan’s first two matches against Australia and Sri Lanka but the recurrence of a knee injury saw him being omitted from the squad.

Shahzad, though, claims that he was incorrectly declared unfit. “I went to a doctor in London and he drained my knee of some fluids, gave me a pill and said that I could play after resting for two-three days,” Shahzad told local media after reaching Kabul.

“I don’t know what is the problem. If they have a problem, they should let me know. If they don’t want me to play, I will quit cricket.

“I don’t see myself playing anymore. It’s a dream to play the World Cup. I was removed from the 2015 World Cup [he wasn’t selected for fitness reasons] and now this one as well. I am going to consult with friends and family. My heart isn’t in cricket anymore,” ’emotional’ Shahzad added.

Reacting to Shahzad’s comments, ACB CEO Asadullah Khan refuted the wicket-keeper’s claims and said any player would be upset after being dropped from a big tournament like World Cup but Afghanistan didn’t want to compromise on the fitness of the players.

“What he is saying is completely wrong. A proper medical report to the ICC was submitted and then only his replacement was announced. The team could not have fielded an unfit player. I understand he is upset at not being part of World Cup anymore but the team could not have compromised on his fitness,” said Khan.

Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad scored his fifth ODI century against India during their Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2018 on Tuesday.

With India already in the final and Afghanistan out of contention, Shahzad’s knock spiced up the inconsequential match. So dominant was Shahzad that fellow opener Javed Ahmadi was only five in a stand of 65, before India struck four times within the space of 17 runs.

??Nabi made a fiery 56-ball 64 with four sixes and three boundaries.

Shahzad was finally out in the 38th over but by then had given a good plat??form? to his team.

Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif among others lauded Shahzad’s century, while some people mentioned how skills are more important than size.
