In a match that swung between moments of exhilaration and nerve-wracking tension, the Hubli Tigers secured a hard-fought 15-run victory over the Mangalore Dragons, leveraging the V Jayadevan (VJD) Method in a rain-affected contest during the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 on Friday (August 17).

A tense chase under pressure against Mangalore Dragons

With rain disrupting the proceedings, the game was condensed into a high-stakes 7-over chase, leaving the Dragons with a revised target of 80 runs. Despite the shortened format and an aggressive Mangalore lineup, Hubli’s disciplined bowling and the timely rain intervention proved to be the deciding factors.

The chase was filled with thrilling moments. Thippa Reddy set the stage alight with a powerful six in the 6th over, contributing 20 runs off 12 balls. Manish Pandey, the Hubli’s captain, played a pivotal role, scoring a crucial 24 off 14 deliveries. Together, their efforts ensured that Hubli crossed the finish line, despite Mangalore’s fierce resistance.

Hubli Tiger’s commanding bowling performance

Earlier, Hubli laid the foundation for their win with a disciplined bowling display, limiting Mangalore to 143/7 in the allotted 16 overs. LR Kumar emerged as the standout performer, taking 3 wickets for 30 runs, with his decisive 16th ?over wreaking havoc on the Mangalore batting order.

Mangalore’s innings started on a promising note, with openers Macneil Noronha and Rohan Patil providing a solid platform. However, the middle order crumbled under pressure, with only Krishnamurthy Siddharth offering resistance, scoring a resilient 44 off 27 balls. Despite his efforts, Hubli’s dominance with the ball was evident throughout.

Manish Pandey’s stunning fielding

One of the most electrifying moments of the match unfolded on the final ball of the 16th over, delivered by Kumar. Mangalore’s MB Darshan was at the crease, facing a full-pi?tched delivery from Kumar. Darshan made solid contact, sending the ball soaring high down the ?ground.

In a display of remarkable athleticism and awareness, Manish, positioned nea??r the boundary line, executed an extraordinary fielding maneuver. As the ball arced towards the boundary, Pandey timed his jump perfectly to catch the ball just before it crossed the rope. Demonstrating exceptional control, he flicked the ball back into play while still in mid-air, ensuring it remained within the field of play. Reddy, standing inside the boundary, then completed the catch with a sharp, decisive grab.

Manish Pandey’s remarkable six and response from Andre Russell

An intriguing battle unfolded between Manish Pandey and Andre Russell during the match. KKR shared a video where Pandey dispatched Russell for a six over the long-on boundary. Pandey elegantly cleared his left leg and struck the ball cleanly, sending it soaring over the ropes. The video shared by KKR on their social media account garnered significant views and likes from fans. Russell, who was on the receiving end of Pandey’s six, responded cheekily to the post by KKR, indicating his disapproval of the shot. He wrote, “I don’t like this guys nope nope nope!!!,”

In the midst of an exciting One-Day International (ODI) clash against Australia at PCA Stadium in Mohali, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is set to lead India in the upcoming 19th Asian Games in China, witnessed his Asian Games-bound side facing Karnataka in a pre-departure warm-up fixture in Bengaluru. The warm-up match, which was expected to test the readiness of the Indian team, provided valuable insights and challenges ahead of the Asian Games, which are scheduled to?? take place between September 27 and October 7.

Indian team posts 133 in their 20 overs

In the warm-up match, the Men in Blue won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they could only muster a total of 133 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Karnataka’s medium pace bowler Manoj Bhandage was the star performer with the ball, wreaking havoc in the ??Indian batting lineup and finishing with remarkable bowling ??figures of 4-1-15-4.

Promising start by Indian openers

The Indian team got off to a promising start with openers Prabhsimran Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal looking composed and determined to put up substantial scores. Prabhsimran fell agonizingly short of a half-century??, amassing 49 runs, featuring seven boundaries and one maximum in his innings. On the other hand, Yashasvi played aggressively, racing to 31 off just 17 balls, courtesy of seven boundaries.

Indian innings loses momentum

However, once the openers departed, the Indian team’s innings lost momentum, and no other batter seemed capable of taking the attack to the Karnataka bowlers. The likes of Rahul Tripathi (6), Jitesh Sharma (2), Rinku Singh (5), and Shivam Dube (0) failed to make a significant impact.

Manish Pandey leads Karnataka to victory

In response, Karnataka’s Manish Pandey rose to the challenge and scored an unbeaten half-century. Manish’s resilient knock of 52 runs off 40 deliveries guided his side to victory with five balls to spare, showcasing his experience and composure under pressure.

Asian Games await Indian men’s team

The Indian men’s cricket team is gearing up for its debut appearance in the Asian Games, scheduled to take place between September 27 and October 7. India will directly enter Quarter Final 1 at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou on October 3, marking an important moment in Indian cricket history.

Indian batsman Manish Pandey has been in and out of t?he ODI team for quite a few years. There is no doubt about his batting prowess but the Karnataka lad has failed to impress in the last five innings in ODI cricket.

In the recently-concluded series against Sri Lanka, Pandey once again got starts in every game but he wasn’t able to fire on and score big. He scored 26, 37, and 11 runs respectively in Sri Lanka ODIs.

Before the third ODI in Colombo, India handed over five debut caps and made a total of six changes, raising questions on why Pandey wasn’t dropped from the playing XI despite his form.

Reacting to the same, Suryakumar Yadav said: “That was completely the team management’s call, I can’t get into that decision. But yes, he’s been batting really well as we saw in the practice games, we played intra-squad games also.”

Yadav also mentioned that Pandey’s unfortunate run-out in the second ODI might have prompted the team management to give another chance to him.

“And last game, you all must have seen it it was an unfortunate dismissal, he was batting really well at that time as well. So that must have been the reason but as I said, this isn’t my call,” Yadav said while defending Pandey’s dismal show with the bat.

Meanwhile, it looks unlikely that Pandey will get any more chance on the remaining tour. Youngsters like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Nitish Rana are waiting in the wings to capture the middle-order spots and Pandey hasn’t fired in T20Is of late either.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced their fifth loss in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Wednesday when they met Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The David Warner-led side failed to defend their total of 171/3 as CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis completely demolished the SRH bowling unit an??d guided their side to a fifth consecutive? victory.

Manish Pandey was the major highlight for Sunrisers after he scored 46-ball 61 at a strike rate of 132.61 with the help of five fours and one six. It was a comeback game for Pandey as he was dropped in the previous match against Delhi Capitals (DC).

But the reason to drop Pandey was explained after yesterday night fixture by SRH coach Trevor Bayliss. He asserted that the slow and spin-favouring tracks in Chennai didn’t ‘suit’ Pandey’s game as the ball was stopping and not coming nicely on the bat. Bayliss said the management was of the impression that the Karnataka player would do well in Delhi, and he did precisely that.

“Yes, that was certainly the selectors’ choice. It was felt that that wicket (Chepauk) didn’t suit Manish with the ball stopping and spinning. But (we knew) he would come back into the calculations on a wicket like here in Delhi, and he showed tonight what a good player he is,” said Bayliss in a video on IPLT20.com.

The 58-year-old also hoped that if wickets are going to be similar that Pandey can be a ‘damaging’ player for them in the upcoming matches.

“Hopefully, from here on in, if the wickets are going to be similar, we know what sort of damaging player he can be,” Bayliss added.

The SRH coach also spoke about Warner’s batting, who struggled to score runs at a good strike rate and scored his slowest IPL half-century. Bayliss said that eventually, Warner’s knock hurt the side and couldn’t get to a decent total.

“David Warner will be the first to admit that he struggled here. He hit a lot of balls to the fielder today. With a player like David, it doesn’t happen a lot. Tonight it did, and it hurt a bit. The other guys batted really well, and the team effort got us to 171, which wasn’t really enough on this surface. Also, CSK bowled and batted quite well,” Bayliss added further.

Dynamic Indian cricketer Manish Pandey is broadly popular for his breathtaking fielding and spectacular catching ability. His spine-tingling efforts in the outfield have always impressed fans whether he dons the Indian jersey or represents Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL.

The Karnataka player has once again given a glimpse of his acrobatic moves in the recently concluded sixth match of IPL 2021 between SRH and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

It all happened in the 16th over of RCB innings when all-rounder Washington Sundar went for a glory shot against SRH star Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan mainstay bo?wled his classic googly around the middle and off-stump.

Sundar did not read the ball as he tried to whack it near the mid-wicket region and ended up slicing the white leather towards long-off. Pandey sprinted forward and dived in front to complete a remarkable catch to end Sundar’s knock of 8 runs.

Here is the video:

Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed power RCB to second consecutive win

In the match, RCB, after put to bat first, made 149/8, thanks to Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. The Victorian p??layed a superb inning of 59 runs from 41 deliveries packed with five fours and three sixes.

It was Maxi’s first IPL fifty in five years. Apart from the 32-year-old, RCB skipper Virat Kohli made a valuable contribution to the team’s total as well. The right-handed batsman scored 33 off 29 balls before Jason Holder sent him back to the dugout.

In reply, the Sunrisers were well set at one stage when David Warner and Pandey had put together 83 runs for the second wicket. But the dismissal of Warner brought a huge collapse as SRH could o??nly manage to reach 143/9, losing the game by six run?s.

RCB spinner Shahbaz Ahmed brought his team back in the game after picking up three wickets in the 17th over of SRH’s chase. Shahbaz removed Jonny Bairstow (12), Pandey (38) and Abdul Samad (0) to complete his three-wicket haul.

It was RCB’s second successive win in the ongoing league. The Kohli and Co. had earlier defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament’s opener by two wickets. With a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.175, RCB has reached the top spot of the points?? table.

Wednesday was another gloomy day in the camps of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as they lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six runs.

Batting first, the Bangalore-based franchise ?could only put 149/8 on the scoreboard? in their allotted 20 overs.

Led by their captain David Warner, SRH were the probable winners at 96/1 and only needed 54 runs off the last seven overs. The required rate was just a little over 7. Manish Pandey, on the other end, was in his 30s an?d consi?dering his run-a-ball innings was the anchor of the chase.

However, in a turn of events in the 17th over, the left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed, took three crucial wickets of Johnny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad in the same fashion leavin??g the Hyderabad-based franchise in t??atters.

While Bairstow and Samad were new to the crease, Pandey (38 off 39), b??ore the brunt of expectations to guiding his team to a win.

Talking about the same, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra, opined that the Nainital-born batsman’s inability to quickly adapt to the game situation and thrive under pressure is the key reason he isn’t a regular pick in the national side.

The veteran also added that though Pandey had made his debut in 2015, way ahead of Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav, yet the latter lot is preferable over him.

“This is the reason Manish Pandey has been in and out of the Indian team. If you see how long ago he made his debut and players like Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav have gone way ahead of him. This is because their game is different and also they adapt and survive in pressure situations a lot better than him. That’s why Manish Pandey has been left behind,” Nehra explained while speaking to Cricbuzz.

When asked about Ahmed’s exploits, the 41-year-old told the website that Virat Kohli brought the spinner at the right t?ime, and it seemed like tailenders were batting for SRH.

“Virat Kohli brought the left-arm spinner at the right moment. But you see how all three batsmen got out. It never felt like Jonny Bairstow, Abdul Samad and Manish Pandey have got out but it seemed like tailenders have given away their wickets,” said the 2011 World Cup winner.

Nehra also asserted that tailenders play against the turning ball and are left with no option othe??r than to hit it to mid-wicket or long-on.

“When tailenders play against the turning ball, they only see mid-wicket and long-on but good players who can handle pressure also play towards mid-off and covers,” the Delhi-born added.

betvisa888 betManish Pandey – Cricket Times - betvisa888 casino //betvisa68.com/2021/04/ipl-2021-virender-sehwag-takes-an-indirect-dig-at-manish-pandey-for-not-taking-srh-over-the-finish-line/ Mon, 12 Apr 2021 10:04:13 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=54120

After a heartbreaking defeat for Su?nrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 11 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, a fan asked Virendra Sehwag the reason for Manish Pandey not hitting any boundaries in the last?? few overs.

Pandey, who came in to bat at no. three and looked steady with Johnny Bairstow in their 92 run stand, couldn’t manage a single boundary in the last six overs barring the one he hit in the final ball.

The twist came in the 13th over when Pat Cummins bowled quite an economical over, giving just two runs and took the wicket of Bairstow in the fi?nal ball of the over, forcing th?e Englishman to depart for a well made 40-ball 55.

It became the turning point as Pandey kept looking for runs but couldn’t capitalise on his score and take his franchise over the finish line.

The 31-year-old constantly looked for support from the other end, but his partnerships were intermittent as the next batter Mohammed Nabi, could only manage 14 runs ??off 11 balls. With Pandey batting at 47, SRH were stranded at 131 for four at the end of the 16th over and still needed 57 runs off four ove?rs at a run rate of 14.25.

The Nainital-born lad couldn’t change his gears and found it difficult to hit a boundary in the remaining overs. Chasing 187, SRH lost by ten runs and ended their innings at 177 for 5.

Talking about the same, Sehwag opined that the Karnataka batsman couldn’t find the right ball to hit.

“It happens sometimes that you are a set batsman but you don’t get the balls to hit. I think the same thing had happened with Manish Pandey. He didn’t get any ball in his radar and hence, he couldn’t hit a six,” said the veteran Indian opener.

The Najafgarh-born made an indirect dig at Manish by adding that had he taken the initiative to smash a few boundaries, the Hyderabad based franchise wouldn’t have lost.

“Pandey couldn’t hit a boundary in the last three overs he batted against KKR. That lone six came off the last ball when the match was over. He had an important role play. He already had faced the pressure and was set. Had he taken the initiative to smash a few boundaries, SRH wouldn’t have lost the game by 10 runs,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

Dubbed as the Sultan of Multan, Sehwag also tweeted that ?if the batter is looking to improve his stats, his franchise will suffer as h??e will not give finishers the chance to come in at the right time.

Meanwhile, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra praised KKR captain Eoin Morgan, for his field adjustments. Nehra said that ?once the? mid-wicket fielder was sent deep, Pandey found it difficult to score runs as his favourite areas are towards mid-wicket and long on.

“Pandey’s radar is mostly towards mid-wicket and long-on. Until the mid-wicket fielder was up (inside the circle), he got runs. Once the fielder went deep, Pandey found it difficult to score. For this, I would like to appreciate KKR captain Eoin Morgan. He may have made the change in the field a bit late but the move worked in restricting Manish Pandey,” said the 41-year-old cricketer-turned analyst.

Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 83 off just 47 balls and his mammoth 140-run partnership with Vijay Shankar (52 not out off 51) helped Sunrisers Hyderabad? beat Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets in Dubai on Thursday.

The decision to bowl first after winning the toss went in the favour of SRH captain David Warner as his bowlers dominated the proceedings. RR opener Robin Uthappa looked in fine form as he raced up to 19 off 13 balls before getting run-out after a terrible mix-up with his partner Ben Stokes. SRH bowlers kept things tight to ensure Sanj??u Samson and Stokes? could not go all out against them.

Samson scored 36 off 26 balls while Stokes scored 30 off 32 balls to add 56 runs for the second wicket. RR lost the plot in the middle overs after Samson and Stokes were dismissed in quick succession in the 12th and 13th over respectively. Riyan Parag’s late cameo of 12-ball 20 and Jofra Archer’s 7-ball 16 propelled them to 154 after the likes of Jos Buttler (9) and Steve Smith (19) failed to deliver.

‘It was a stunning performance’

After the match, Warner expressed immense happiness following the performances of Manish and Shankar. The Australian cricketer added that he was “chuffed” for the duo.

“For them to come out and play like this, I am so happy for them. They showed they can build a platform for us to get across the line. Or set a big total. I am chuffed for them,” said the SRH skipper during the post?-match press conference.

Warner further described the team performance as “stunning”, hailing the triumph as the kind of game they were “asking for”.

“It was a stunning performance. Starts with the toss where you (broadcaster Mark Nicholas) questioned my decision to chase. We were able to bring them back after Powerplay. All in all, the kind of game we were asking for,” he added.

Brief scores: Rajasthan Royals 154/6 in 20 overs (Sanju Samson 36; Jason Holder 3-33) lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad 156/2 in 18.1 overs (Manish Pandey 83*, Vijay Shankar 52*) by 8 wickets.
