Khaleel Ahmed, the game-changer for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), hopes to make his comeback for India shortly.

Khaleel, who won the Player of the Match Award for his impressive spell of 4-1-21-2, said during the post-match presentation that he has worked very hard in domestic cri?c??ket and played many matches in the last six months. Hence, his ultimate goal is to represent his national team again.

DC batted first in their match against CSK and set the target of 191 runs for the Yellow Army. DC’s batting included spectacular knock of 52 from opening batter David Warner and a much-awaited half-century from skipper Rishabh Pant.

“I have worked hard in the domestic season. I played a lot of matches in the last six months, which has helped me know my game better. I love it when the ball swings and the batters get beaten. During the early days, prominent ?cricketers who went on to represent their countries usually hailed from metropolitan cities, namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyder??abad and Chennai.

However, in re??cent times, lesser-known states such as Jharkhand, Haryana, and Rajasthan have produced their own stalwarts.

In fact, Rajasthan produced two new gems of fast bowling in the form of Deepak Chahar and ??Syed Khaleel Ahmed who went to represent the country at the highest level in white-ball cricket.

Coming from a conservative background from a small town called Tonk, Khaleel had to stru??ggle to pursue his dream of donning ?the national colours.

The ordeals even constituted of Khaleel hiding his ambitions ?and love for the game in front of his father.

Khaleel’s father, Khursheed Ahmed, who was a compounder by profession, intended his son to concentrate on his studies and look after his four siblings, doing the household chores. Ahmed did not even dare to let his father known about him getting admitted into the academy.

“We come from Tonk, which is a small town in Rajasthan. My father was a compounder, and he was away at work a lot. We were a family of 4 siblings – three elder sisters and then me. Being the youngest son, I was expected to do a lot of small work around the house when my father wasn’t around. But I ran off for practice without telling anyone! It continued even until I was training at the academy. My family didn’t even know I had got admission,” Ahmed told Manish Batavia on Spicy Pitch.

“Like any middle-class parent, I wanted my son to study hard and become a doctor. Being a compounder myself, this was a big dream. But he just wanted to play cricket â€?nothing else!” Khaleel senior chipped in.

So what led to the change of heart for Khursheed? Khaleel revealed that it was the good reputation earned through performances which circulated through to his father via family friends and coach, which finally made Khursheed believe in his son’s abilities.

“I think when he got selected for Under 19, I started to believe that this might be his future after all finally. Today, of course, we are his biggest supporters â€?and sometimes critics!” concluded Khaleel’s father.

India wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has shared his latest Tik Tok video, and it’s damn hilarious. Fans were in splits after watching the video in which Chahal, Khaleel Ahmed, and Rohit Sharma have recreated the famous scene from Bollywood movie Dhol.

Chahal was sleeping in the video with his jacket worn upside down. Rohit and Ahmed, who were playing Chahal’s friends in the video, acted like the leg-spinner’s face has rotated 180 degrees and tried to turn it while he was asleep. But Chahal woke up shouting that it was the jacket and not his face. Ahmed then funnily kicked his back, saying why did he do that.

The Decision Review System (DRS) came under major scrutiny on Friday during the second T20I between New Zealand and India at the Eden Park in Auckland.

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell was given out leg before wicket (LBW) controversial??ly off the bowling of Krunal Pandya in the sixth over of the first innings but replays clearly showed that the batsman had got an inside-edge.

Mitchell straight away went for the review after exchanging few words with his ca??ptain Kane Williamson, who was ?at the non-strikers end.

TV replays showed the inside-edge but the snickometer failed to pick up any sound off the nick, showing a flat line despite the ball hitting the bat. The third umpire had no choice but to go with the on-field umpire’s call because there was no conclusive evidence even though he could see the ball hitting the bat.

Williamson couldn’t believe what he saw and protested the decision but the on-field umpire Chris Brown had to ask the batsman to leave. Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni were also seen having a chat, possibly mulling to withdraw their appeal but that didn’t happen..

India pacer Khaleel Ahmed la??ter revealed that his side just went with the on-field and third umpires decisions.

“We were just waiting for umpire’s call because we can’t do anything in that decision. Whatever the umpires said we just accepted it,” Khaleel said at the post-match press conference.

With Mitchell’s dismissal, New Zealand also lost the review and their third wicket for mere 43 runs.

The early wickets dented th?e Kiwis and the??y eventually managed to post 158 for 8 with Krunal finishing with three wickets while Khaleel bagged a couple.

In a rare event, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is known for his cool and composed attitude lost his composure during the second ODI between Australia a?nd India at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.

Dhoni’s unbeaten and calm 55-run knock helped the visitors seal the nervy chase which went down to the last over.

Pe?rsistent rain saw the second T20 International at the MCG washed out, sparing Australia after India had taken the upper ??hand in the first innings.

Australia had scraped to 132 f??or 7 with one over left ?when rain stopped play. Despite a few false starts with India set revised targets from 11 overs and then from five overs, both attempts to restart the game were nixed as the rain returned just as players were about to walk back onto the field.

In the first T20I against India at The Gabba, the right-handed batsman hit as many as four sixes after starting his knock with a four.
