“I’ve taken my hats off to the last two Indian fielding coaches. And it comes from captaincy. Under Dhoni, he had a lot of senior guys, and he just showed his physical ability, he still does at the end of his IPL career. Running between the wickets… amazing, and he’s 40. It’s incredible. He certainly showed, just through his example, the importance of fitness and strength,” Rhodes stated.

The trolling incident

While many appreciated the post, a troll took issue with Jonty not ordering food for his taxi driver and commented, “You could have ordered something for your taxi driver. The Lucknow Super Giants’ remarkable win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Saturday was marred by crowd trouble. A few decisions that did not go in favour of the Sunris??ers resulted in some fans throwing objects onto the field, causing a brief interruption in the match.

It happened after a disagreement arose when the third umpire dismissed SRH’s Abdul Samad’s appeal for a waist-high no-ball against LSG’s Avesh Khan in the third ball of the penultimate over. Initially, the on-field umpire had awarded it as a no-ball, but LSG opted to challenge the decision. The issue was then referred to the third umpire, who subsequently overturned the decision, which not only angered the fans but also the SRH batter Heinrich Klaasen, who seemed to be livid.

While everyone on the field tried to comprehend the decision, members of the LSG team were seen gesturing towards the crowd. It is still unclear what exactly caused the fans to react, but according to reports, some fans threw nuts and bolts at the Super Giants’ dugout, and as a result, one of their players, Prerak Mankad, was hit on the head by one of these objects. The franchise’s fielding coach, Jonty Rhodes, confirmed this incident on social media.

Gavaskar criticized the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for failing to provide a suitable dugout for the players and staff of the team. He was heard saying: “What’s hard to understand is most dugouts have what we call flexi-glass. Here we have beach umbrella kind of things, which is no protection. Come on, the Hyderabad Cricket Association can provide the proper dugouts rather than these makeshift things you see. Obviously these are a problem, an issue.”

Doull reckoned that?? it was disappointing to see how cr?owd behaved and paused the proceedings of the match.

“They’ve actually made it worse for their own team. It’s disappointing what they’ve done, we won’t go into the details of what they’ve done but it’s really disappointing,” said Doull.

On Monday, South Africa Legends registered their fourth victory in the ongoing Road Safety World Series T20 2020-21. The African side defeated Bangladesh Lege?nds ?by 10 wickets at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur to qualify for? the semi-finals.

South Africa Legends openers Andrew Puttick and Morne van Wyk completely dominated the Bangladesh Legends bowlers and never allowed them to come? back in the match. Both Puttick and van Wyk comfortably chased the target by forming an unbeaten 161-run stand for the opening wicke?t.

Both the batters scored half-centuries and took their team to the third spot in the points table, currently headed by Sri Lanka Legends. It all happened on the final delivery of the 4th over bowled by Makhaya Ntini. The right-handed bowler delivered a back of a length ball which batsman Mehrab Hossain just gently tapped in front of the point and ran for a quick sin???gle.

Former South Africa international Jonty Rhodes has been appointed head coach of the Sweden cricket team.

According to a statement from the Swedish Cricket Federation, the move is part of the board’s broader plans to invest in junior cricket and high performance in the country. The statement also said, “Cricket is the second-fastest growing sport in Sweden seeing a 300% increase in participation over the past two years.”

“I am really excited to relocate to Sweden with my family and work together with the Swedish Cricket community. This opportunity has come at a perfect time and I am grateful to be able to invest my energies in a completely new environment. I can’t wait to get started,” ??Rhodes was quoted as saying by swedishcricket.org.

Rhodes, who is currently serving as the fielding coach of Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, will join the Swedish side in November.

“Our growth targets and key areas are directed toward junior cricket and high performance. Jonty Rhodes, the former South African cricketing great, has opened up to the age-old turmoil and chaos within Cricket South Africa (CSA), pertaining to racism.

Rhodes has affirmed that the South African cricket’s inconsistency can be attributed to the long-standing administrative crisis. He strongly believes that racism has played an integral part in the country’s ecosystem.

CSA is currently looking at a massive financial crisis and allegations of racism from its cricketers. As a result, the board lost its cream to Kolpak deals, ??as its players moved abroad for financial stability.

Moreover, CSA is presently in great hands under the directorship of former captain Graeme Smith.

“The sad thing for me is that even though top 30 players in the country want to work together for the game, the administration is in such chaos that unfortunately, it does have an impact on things (on the field),” Rhodes told PTI.

“Someone like me who is not part of the system, we are reading about issues in South Africa cricket week in and week out and it has not been resolved. The same mistakes are being made and there is not much accountability. It saddens me…it does impact on-field performance. Even though we have some great players, we have been lacking consistency in performance because of inconsistency off the field,�?he added.

Rhodes is part of Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) campaign in the 2020 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) as the fielding coach.
