The 24th match of the IPL 2025 season saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru host Delhi Capitals at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10. A contest brimming with potential turned into a high-octane showdown filled with flying catches, explosive batting, and dramatic shifts in momentum. While KL Rahul’s commanding 93* grabbed the headlines, Jitesh Sharma made his mark early with two gravity-defying catches behind the stumps that shook Delhi’s top order.

RCB’s off day with the bat: A stumble despite a blistering start

Winning the toss and opting to bat, Royal Challengers Bengaluru began with fireworks. Phil Salt blazed away with a 17-ball 37, sending the crowd into raptures as RCB rocketed to 50 runs within the first 3 overs. However, the momentum was short-lived.

Virat Kohli (22 off 14) looked promising before falling to a mistimed shot, while Devdutt Padikkal, Liam Livingstone, and Jitesh Sharma failed to stabilize the middle order. Kuldeep Yadav’s crafty spin choked the scoring rate, picking up crucial wickets and ending with economical figures of 2/17. Despite a late surge from Tim David (37* off 20), RCB could only manage 163/7 ?a below-par total on the small Bengaluru ground. The lack of partnerships and consistent middle-order collapses meant RCB ended their innings with more questions than answers.

Jitesh Sharma plucks two screamers in a row

The Delhi chase began shakily, and it was Jitesh who brought the early drama behind the stumps ?not with the bat, but with his gloves. In just the second over of the innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a back-of-a-length ball outside off stump. Jake Fraser-McGurk went for an audacious heave across the line, only to top-edge the ball into orbit. The ball soared high, disappearing into the Bengaluru night sky. Jitesh tracked it calmly despite a slight bobble and held on to a stunning catch under pressure. It was a moment that summed up the early collapse Delhi was facing. Fraser-McGurk departed for 7 runs, leaving DC at 10/2.

Barely two overs later, Abhishek Porel attempted a similar across-the-line swipe to a Bhuvneshwar short ball. This one went off the toe-end and once again, it was Jitesh who sprinted and claimed another sky-high effort with ease. Two almost identical dismissals, two big blows for Delhi ?and both safely pouched by Jitesh’s sure hands. Porel’s dismissal for 7 runs reduced DC to 30/3, putting RCB in a commanding position early in the match.

KL Rahul’s masterclass in the chase

Despite being rocked early at 30/3, Delhi Capitals had an ace up their sleeve. Rahul played one of the finest innings of the season. With a mixture of elegant strokeplay, brutal lofted drives, and smart running between the wickets, he single-handedly turned the tide.

He brought up his half-century in just 37 balls and then shifted gears with ruthless efficiency. Tristan Stubbs (38* off 23) played the perfect supporting act, but it was Rahul’s command over the chase that stood out. His unbeaten 93 off 53 balls included 7 fours and 6 sixes, and ensured DC crossed the line with 13 balls to spare.

While Rahul’s stellar innings rightfully earned him the Player of the Match award, Jitesh’s acrobatic catches were equally instrumental in shaping the game’s narrative. His efforts behind the stumps not only provided early breakthroughs but also energized the RCB side. Despite RCB’s eventual loss, Jitesh’s performance stood out as a testament to the impact of exceptional fielding in the shortest format of the game.

betvisa888 betJitesh Sharma – Cricket Times - betvisa casino http://betvisa68.com/2025/04/ipl-2025-not-ms-dhoni-jitesh-sharma-reveals-his-true-inspiration-for-wicketkeeping/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 14:05:35 +0000 http://betvisa68.com/?p=184343

In a cricketing nation where MS Dhoni has set the gold standard for wicketkeepers, it comes as a surprise when a young Indian stumper reveals a different idol. Jitesh Sharma, known for his explosive batting and sharp wicketkeeping skills, has named the legendary Australian wicketkeeper as his primary inspiration. As the IPL 2025 is taking place, Jitesh gave fans an insight into how the Aussie icon influenced not just his love for wicketkeeping but also the techniques he continues to apply today.

Jitesh Sharma opens up on his inspiration for wicketkeeping

In a recent interaction, Jitesh opened up about how Aussie legend Adam Gilchrist’s effortless glovework drew him towards the art of wicketkeeping. While many youngsters in India might gravitate toward Dhoni for his heroics, it was Gilchrist’s effortless elegance behind the stumps that struck a chord with Jitesh.

“I think this love for wicketkeeping is because of Adam Gilchrist. The way he used to keep the ball so easily, the way he used to catch the ball, I was very inspired by that,” said Jitesh in a video shared by IPL.

Unique technique rooted in basics

Explaining his technique behind the stumps, the Vidarbha cricketer shared the importance of body posture and positioning for consistent performance. Notably, the squat position helps the keeper stay low and ready for any deviation in the ball’s path, especially on subcontinental pitches.

“In wicketkeeping, there are some basics like squat position and ball of the feet. These are some thumb rules. But for me, I always try that my shoulder and my knee should be like a box. Whenever I move, I should move like a box,” added Jitesh.

“If my head is near the ball, automatically my body will be behind it. So, my second line of defence will be active. I should be close to it, like I am throwing the ball far away. So, I should go like this and catch the ball rather than like this,” Jitesh added further.

In the high-stakes atmosphere of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 semi-finals, a moment of brilliance emerged that will be etched in the memories of cricket fans. The match between Vidarbha and Maharashtra not only showcased impressive batting but also highlighted a sensational catch by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, dismissing Maharashtra skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The semi-final clash was pivotal for both teams, with Vidarbha setting a formidable target of 380 runs after a stellar performance from their batters. Dhurv Shorey and Yash Rathod each scored centuries, while captain Karun Nair‘s explosive innings of unbeaten 88 propelled Vidarbha to a commanding position. With such a challenging total on the board, Maharashtra needed a solid start, but their hopes were dashed early in the innings.

As the third over unfolded, Darshan Nalkande bowled a delivery that Gaikwad attempted to pull. However, his timing was off, resulting in a high ball that seemed destined for the boundary. This is where Jitesh’s athleticism came into play. Positioned behind the stumps, he sprinted forward, leaping into the air to grab the ball with both hands, securing a critical wicket for Vidarbha and sending shockwaves through the Maharashtra camp.

Jitesh Sharma: The rising star prospect for RCB

Jitesh’s catch was not just a display of skill but also a testament to his growing reputation in Indian cricket. Having recently been acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 11 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, Jitesh has been making headlines not only for his batting prowess but also for his exceptional wicketkeeping abilities. His performance in this match further solidifies his status as one of the most promising talents in Indian cricket today.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s ongoing struggles

On the other hand, Gaikwad’s form continues to be a concern. The 27-year-old batter has struggled throughout the Vijay Hazare Trophy, managing only seven runs in this crucial match. His inconsistency has raised questions about his place in upcoming international fixtures, particularly with selectors overlooking him for the T20I series against England. Gaikwad’s performance has been underwhelming; apart from a standout innings of 148 not out against Services, he has failed to make significant contributions in other matches.

This catch may symbolize more than just an individual dismissal; it reflects Gaikwad’s ongoing battle to regain form and confidence at a time when he is under scrutiny from fans and selectors alike. His current average of 32 runs across six innings—excluding his century—paints a stark picture of his struggles.

The IPL 2025 mega auction was a blockbuster event that reshaped team rosters with dramatic bids and bold strategies. Among the star signings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made headlines by acquiring Jitesh Sharma for a massive INR 11 crore. This was a meteoric rise for the 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who was earlier signed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for just INR 20 lakh in 2022. His consistent performances in recent IPL seasons and his big-hitting prowess in the death overs have earned him a place among India’s rising stars in the T20I setup.

RCB’s possible vision for Jitesh Sharma

RCB targeted Jitesh as a key component in their quest for IPL glory. The team sought a replacement for veteran Dinesh Karthik, and Jitesh’s explosive hitting and adaptability made him the perfect fit. His ability to finish innings and his leadership credentials—he served as vice-captain for PBKS in the previous edition—added to his value.

The auction saw intense bidding, with PBKS using their Right to Match (RTM) card at INR 7 crore. However, RCB’s determination to secure Jitesh prevailed as they increased their bid to INR 11 crore, securing one of the most exciting talents of the auction.

“I think I’ll try to learn from Kohli’s consistency and how he has kept himself fit and motivated over all these years,” expressed Jitesh.

Additionally, Jitesh looks forward to playing under Kohli, highlighting the former India captain’s energy and game involvement as a source of inspiration.

“It will be great to play under Virat Kohli. I would love to play under him because he is so energetic and enthusiastic—it can push my limits. A person who is always involved in the game can inspire me to push my game further,” added Jitesh.

Jitesh’s journey to IPL stardom

Jitesh has been a consistent performer in domestic and franchise cricket, earning a reputation as a dependable finisher. His fearless approach in the death overs and ability to clear the boundary with ease have made him a sought-after player. Additionally, his sharp wicketkeeping skills add depth to his overall game.

The 31-year-old was rewarded with a call-up to the Indian T20I squad following his impressive IPL performances, cementing his place as one of the brightest talents in the country.
