On Sunday, in the second ODI held in Indore, India secured a dominant victory over Australia, defeating them by 99 runs (DLS method). This win solidified India’s unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match series.

India’s batting domination

Winning the toss, Australia opted to bowl first. Pacer Josh Hazlewood got rid of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the fourth over, giving the guests an early advant?age.

Shreyas Iyer then joined Shubman Gill and showed his form right from the beginning. The duo togethe??r forged a massive partnership of 200 runs for the second wicke?t. Iyer departed after scoring 105 runs from 90 balls.

Soon after, Shubm?an was also dismissed in the 35th over, having scored 104 runs from 97 balls.

Stand-in skipper KL Rahul took charge from there on and stabilized the hosts’ charge, contributing 52 runs off 38 balls. He was well supported by Ishan Kishan, who played a cameo of 31 runs from 18 balls. The latter part of the innings was dominated by India’s Mr. 360, Suryakumar Yadav.

The right-handed batter delivered an explosive knock, amassing 72 runs from just 37 balls, propelling India to a total of 399/5 in their allotted?? 50 overs. This remarkable innings set a new record for India as they achieved their highest-ever t?otal against Australia in ODIs.

Defending a mammoth total, the Indian bowlers applied consistent pressure on the Aussies. The early dismissals of Matthew Short and Steve Smith added to Australia’s challenge in their run chase. Furthermore, a second rain delay made matters even more difficult for the visiting side, as the revised target was 317 runs in 33 overs.

With the pressure of a mounting required run rate, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took charge of India’s bowling attack and picked up three crucial wickets, significantly diminishing the guests’ chances of a successful run chase.

Shubman Gill surpasses Hashim Amla

Continuing his remarkable streak of stunning performances, Shubman’s century in the second clash against Australia has added another impressive milestone to his burgeoning career. The 24-year-old became the highest run-scorer after first 35 innings in ODI cricket, amassing a remarkable total of 1900 runs.

This achievement catapulted him past the illustrious former South African batter Hashim Amla, who held the previous record with 1844 runs.

Shubman’s remarkable knock secured victory for the Men in Blue and marked his sixth century in the ODI format, solidifying his status as one of the brightest talents in international cricket.

Former cricketer AB de Villiers, who had made his international debut for South Africa in 2004 with Amla, penned an emotional tribute to the ??retiring cricketer.

De Villiers’ heart-winning message for Amla:

“Hashim Amla.. where do I start?! Not easy. Might take me a few days, weeks, months, years.

I can literally write a book about you.

Humaam, thank you for always being there for me. You’ve always been a brother who made me feel safe in so many ways.

Your journey wasn’t easy. “The guy with the weird technique”. “He’ll never last”. “He’ll never be consistent”.

“But then, in your own very unique way, you just walked out there, time and time again and just batted, like only you can. Calm, composed, consistent, gutsy, skilful and humble, always for the team, for your country. You inspired me in a way I can’t explain.

So, today, I salute you my friend. You served the game to perfection! We can all learn from that. I did

I wish I could bat with you one more time.”

Legendary South African batter Hashim Amla has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Amla, who has been playing for Surrey post his international retirement, will not return to represent the county in 202??3.

Notably, Amla had already played for Surrey in 2013 and 2014 and signed a Kolpak deal in 2019 after bidding farewell to international cricket following the ODI World Cup that year. Amla’s final appearance in professional cricket came against Lancashire in the 2022 County Championship. During that season, the right-handed batter amassed over 700 runs at an average near 40, helping Surrey win the prestigious title.

In an illustrious career that spanned two decades, Amla scored 34,104 runs across all professional formats – 9,282 of which came in his 124 Test appearances. This included 28 hundreds and a brilliant 311 not out against England in 2012, becoming the first Proteas batter to smash a triple-century in Tests.

Amla accumulated 8113 runs including 27 hundreds in 181 ODIs and 1,277 runs in 44 T20Is. He has also started his coaching career with a stint as MI Cape Town’s batting coach in the ongoing SA20 2023.

“I have great memories of the Oval ground, and to finally leave it as a player fills me with immense gratitude for what has been. A sincere thank you to Alec Stewart and the entire Surrey staff, players and Members for their support. The Surrey ship runs so professionally that it would make any international player feel a sense of honour just to be involved with it. I wish them all the best and many more trophies,” said Amla in an official statement.

Stewart, the form??er England cricketer w?ho has worked with Amla at Surrey, described the South African as a fantastic player and a wonderful human being.

“Everyone at Surrey County Cricket Club will be sad to see Hashim retire, but we all applaud what has been a phenomenal career. He will quite rightly go down as a great of the game. Hashim is a fantastic cricketer and a wonderful person. He has been an incredible resource for the team to learn from on and off the field,” said Stewart.

betvisa888 casinoHashim Amla – Cricket Times - betvisa888 live //betvisa68.com/2021/11/when-hashim-amla-was-forced-to-drink-alcohol-by-his-county-teammate/ Sun, 21 Nov 2021 04:09:47 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=60553

English Cricket is at its lowest point after the story of Azeem Rafiq has hogged the spotlight on ‘racism’ and brought his former club Yorkshire to its knees.

The ramification of this episode now extended well beyond the borders of the most successful clubs in the country game. Many renowned players from past and present?? have been forced into apolog??ies or denials.

In the same ligh??t, several other non-white cricketers have opened up about the incidents during their days at Yorkshire.

Former West Indies pacer Tino Best is the latest player to point out unfair practices in England. According to him, the drinking culture in the country was a big problem. Non-white players were forced to drink whether they were interested or not. If they didn’t drink, they were not part of the boys’ club. And this was the major reason behind non-white cricketers getting fewer chances in the English team.

Best, who was part of Yorkshire in 2010, recalled an incident when South Africa veteran Hashim Amla was forced to drink alcohol by his teammate.

“There was a guy at Hashim Amla’s table who pressurized him for three to four hours to drink. Every minute, he’s like, ‘drink this, drink that.’ Hashim, in a very humble way said, ‘Sir (with a big smile) I don’t drink.’ However, this guy kept on forcing him. I then went to that guy and said: ‘Hashim is a Muslim and Muslims don’t drink. Can you please stop forcing him? It’s unbearable brother,”  Tino said du?ring his conversation with Sky Sports.

Amla was a part of Nottinghamshire back then. He was signed as a cover for Australian batsman David Hussey.

“The culture around [County] cricket is drinking. That is a big problem. People shouldn’t be pressured to go into the clubhouse and drink eight or nine pints to be a part of the team. If you’re not a part of the drinking culture, if you’re not a part of the boys’ club, you’re not going to get opportunities after cricket. That is something that is hampering people of colour and Asian ethnicity,”  Tino added.

The trend of South African batsmen scoring the number of runs after retirement continues as Hashim Amla has displayed high-class batting in the ongoing County Championship 2021.

In the Group 2 game between Surrey and Hampshire at Kennington Oval, London, Amla completely dominated the proceedings on Day 2 and helped Surrey post a humungous total in reply to Hampshire’s paltry 92.

The former South Africa captain smashed a scintillating double century to power Surrey to 513/3 in 132 overs. It was Amla’s seventh first-class double hundred, and he stayed unbeaten on 215 runs from 367 deliveries packed with 22 boundaries.

The Durban-lad formed a record-breaking partnership with another centurion in the match, Ollie Pope. The duo shared a dominating 257 runs stand for the third wicket. Pope hit 131 off 173 balls, including 15 boundaries before Hampshire’s teen sensation Scott Currie dismissed England’s Test batsman.

After Pope’s wicket, Amla put together another crucial partnership with Jamie Smith, who scored 66 not out from 85 balls. The pair stitched a 100-run stand as Surrey ended up building an imperious lead of 421 over Hampshire before the bad light stopped play.

Before Amla and Pope, England Test opener Rory Burns shined with the bat but missed his chance to score three figures after he under-edged a pull shot on to his stumps ??off Liam Dawson. The Surrey skipper made 80 runs ??from 149 deliveries with the help of 11 fours.

Earlier, Jordan Clark‘s sensational bowling assisted Surrey to bundle out Hampshire for a mere 92 runs. Clark picked up a six-wicket haul for just 21 in 10.3 overs, including three maidens. Kemar Roach and Rikki Clarke bagged two scalps each. Wicketkeeper-batsman Lewis McManus, with an unbeaten 31 off 44 balls, was Hampshire’s highest run-scorer in the first innings.

After the days play, Pope heaped praises on A??mla, stating the 38-year-old showed remar?kable consistency and played an outstanding knock.

“It was obviously a very good day; Hashim was outstanding in the consistency he showed. He didn’t really change his tempo throughout the day, and it was a joy to bat with him and also to watch it from the other end,” said Pope as quoted by BBC.

“He’s a very calming influence to bat with, and he also has a lot of wisdom to impart too. I was pretty patient with myself in how I played and also got the rewards too, so I’m very pleased with how I went. We wanted to be ruthless and bat through the day, and we stuck to that and executed it nicely. Hopefully, the weather behaves to give us time to finish the job,” he added.
