English seamer David Willey, who was set to debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024, has been ruled out of the t??ournament due to personal reasons. Willey, a left-arm pacer, was acquired by LSG at ??his base price of INR 2 crore in the 2024 auction.

LSG Names Willey’s Replacement

The Lucknow franchise has moved swiftly to find a replacement, signing New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry. The right-arm pacer joins LSG at his base price of INR 1.25 crore. This will be Henry’s third stint in the IPL, having previously played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Desp??ite representing two other teams previously, Henry has only played in two IPL matches so far, both for Punjab Kings in the 2017 season, where he managed to take one wicket.

However, Henry brings a wealth of international experience to the LSG bowling attack. The 32-year-old has featured in 25 Tests, 8??2?? ODIs and 17 T20Is for New Zealand, claiming a combined total of 256 wickets across formats. He boasts an impressive overall record in T20 cricket, having picked up 151 wickets in 131 matches at a miserly economy rate of 8.39.

LSG Bolsters Bowling Options

Henry’s addition strengthens the LSG bowling department, which already includes young guns like Mohsin Khan, Yash Thakur, Shamar Joseph and Shivam Mavi.

Henry’s experience and wicket-taking ability will be crucial for LSG’s campaign as they aim to make a strong impression in the ongoing IPL season.

In a significant announcement that has reverberated throughout the cricketing world, David Willey – a star player from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) – has officially announced retirement from all forms of international cricket. The announcement, made via a heartfelt statement shared by Willey on his official social media accounts, marked the end of an illustrious career that has left an indelible mark on the sport.

David Willey set to retire after the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023

Willey’s decision to retire comes a week after England unveiled their new central contracts with the left-arm pacer one of the key members of the ODI World Cup 2023 squad not given a deal.

In the ongo??ing ICC tournament, Willey has played three matches for England, taking five wickets and scoring 32 runs.

“I never wanted this day to come. From a young boy I’ve only dreamed of playing for England,” Willey said in his official statement.

“So, with careful thought and consideration, it is with great regret that I feel the time has come for me to retire from all forms of international cricket at the end of the World Cup.”

Willey will continue to play franchise cricket

The? 33-year-old has so far represented his national team i?n 70 ODIs and 43 T20Is since his debut against Ireland in 2015.

“I have worn the shirt with immense pride and given my absolute everything to the badge on my chest,” Willey added.

“I’ve been very lucky to be a part of such an incredible white-ball team with some of the best players in the world.

“I’ve made some special memories and great friends along the way and been through some very difficult times.”

“To my wife, two children, mum and dad, I wouldn’t have been able to follow my dreams without your sacrifice and unwavering support throughout. Thank you for sharing the special memories and picking up the pieces when I’ve fallen apart – I’m eternally grateful.”

betvisa loginDavid Willey – Cricket Times - betvisa888 casino //betvisa68.com/2023/04/watch-david-willey-delivers-a-double-wicket-maiden-for-rcb-in-the-clash-against-kkr/ Thu, 06 Apr 2023 15:25:31 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=74257

In the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), RCB’s David Willey took two crucial wickets off consecutive deliveries. The first wicket was that of Venkatesh Iyer, who scored only three runs off seven balls before being cleaned up by Willey, while the second wicket was that of Mandeep Singh, who was bowled out for a duck off?? the first ball he faced.

Asked to bat first, KKR got off to a very poor start, losing the top order quite early in the match. It was Willey for RCB who got his team their breakthrough by dismissing Iyer. On the next ball, the English fast bowler sent Mandeep back to the pavilion, making his tally of w?ickets two and giving no run the over. It all happened on the second and third ba??ll of the 4th over.

The first wicket of Willey came from a short-of-le?ngth ball just outside off, causing a sh?arp movement off the seam and a bit of low bounce. Iyer tried to punch it off the back foot, but the ball cut back in suddenly and rattled his stumps.

On the other hand, th??e second dis??missal for the RCB pacer came off a good-length delivery which Mandeep attempted to defend. However, the ball suddenly nipped away sharply, eluding the edge of the bat and crashing into the off stump. Willey seemed thrilled and celebrated the back-to-back wickets with a roar.

Here’s the video:

Notably, Willey made his way into the RCB’s playing eleven replacing his compatriot Reece Topley, who got injured in the first match. However, RCB would? be happy to include the left-arm pacer in the line-up as it helped them put KKR on the backfoot early on in the game. Willey finished the innings with a figures of 4-1-16-2.

betvisa casinoDavid Willey – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2022/11/sydney-thunders-platinum-pick-david-willey-withdraws-from-upcoming-bbl/ Wed, 16 Nov 2022 02:44:31 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=66754

Just a few days prior to the beginning of Men’s Big Bash League (BBL) 2022, Sydney Thunder have suffered a massive blow as David Willey, their platinum signing in the inaug?ural overseas player draft, has pulled out of the tournament??.

Willey, who was part of England’s T20 World Cup-winning squad but didn’t get a single game in the multi-team tournament, gave no reason for his withdrawal, with the Thunder team management confirming they had come to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

The star all-rounder was roped in by the Thunder as the seventh selection in August’s BBL|12 Draft and was the only platinum-level player expected to play the entire tournament.

Head of Sydney Thunder Andrew Gilchrist said the management was no doubt disappointed not to have Willey playing this season, but they also respect the Englishman’s decision.

“David and his management have been tremendous to deal with. Sydney Thunder regrets David won’t be playing for us this season, but we wish him and his family all the very best for the future,” said Gilchrist as quoted by sydneythunder.?com.au.

“We’ve started the process, but Sydney Thunder boasts some incredible players on this summer’s roster. Alex Hales has been a star for England’s T20 World Cup campaign, and Rilee Rossouw proved while playing for South Africa how dangerous he can be. We also have the best signing of the season in Dave Warner, while Jason Sangha, Chris Green, Tanveer Sangha, Ben Cutting, and Matthew Gilkes are among the best in the business. There is a lot for Thunder Nation to be excited about,” he added.

Willey is the second platinum pick to withdraw from the upcoming season after his national teammate Liam Livingstone, who received a surprise call?-up to the Test squad for the Pakistan tour in December. Though, Livingstone is not expected to miss the entire season as he might feature in Melbourne Renegades‘ fifth match against the Sydney Sixers on December 28. Willey had previously plied his trade for Perth Scorchers, from BBL|05 to BBL|08, where he picked up 26 wickets in 27 ??matches.

Sydney Thunder’s BBL|12 squad:

Ben Cutting, Oliver Davies, Brendan Doggett, Matt Gilkes, Chris Green, Alex Hales (Engla?nd), Baxter Holt, Nathan McAndrew, Alex Ross, Rilee Rossouw (South Africa), Daniel Sams, Jason Sangha, Tanveer Sangha, David Warner.

betvisa888 liveDavid Willey – Cricket Times - betvisa casino //betvisa68.com/2020/09/david-willey-opens-up-about-refusing-an-ipl-offer-to-continue-leading-yorkshire-in-vitality-t20-blast/ Wed, 09 Sep 2020 10:16:40 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=47371

David Willey, who is amongst the fringe players for England in white-ball cricket, has opened up about declining an IPL offer to ??continue ??leading Yorkshire in the Vitality T20 Blast.

Willey’s decision was forced due to the overlapping schedules of the two marquee domestic T20 tournaments.

The knockout stage of the Vitality T20 Blast is scheduled to commence on September 20, which marks Week 1 of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Moreover, due to the existing norms for observing the quarantine period upon arrival in the UAE, Willey was slated to miss out on a large chunk of action in IPL 2020.

I had an offer. The problem is there’s a crossover with the Blast and the IPL, so I said I’m available from when the Blast finishes. I want to captain Yorkshire in the Blast and see that through, so if there’s an opportunity that comes after that (IPL), great. There may still be opportunities which I’m open to,” Willey told the Yorkshire Post.

Willey had been part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the previous editions of the IPL. He last featured in the England outfit, during the ICC ODI Super League encounter against Ireland, back in August.

In the opening game of the three-match ODI series against the Irish, Willey ended up with figures of 5/30 at S?outhampton.

During the high-scoring encounter in the final game of the series, Willey also displayed his batting prowess with an impressive 51.

‘Not willing to spend a long time away from family’: Willey

“Again, there’s been a bit of interest there. But the issue for me there will be family travel. I’m not willing to spend that long away from my family,” he added.

“If that changes, I’ll bite someone’s hand off to get over and play, play any of the franchise cricket really, but it’s just weighing everything up,” Willey concluded.

After the coronavirus hiatus, England made a phenomenal re?turn to ODI cricket with a six-wicket victory over Ireland at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Thursday.

Chasing just 173 to win, and with??out a number of regulars who are away with the Test squad, England were stuttering at 78-4.

But captain Eoin Morgan (36 not out) and Sam Billings, who scored unbeaten 67, shared an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 96 to seal the victory wi??th 22.1 overs to spare.

Left-arm fast bowler David Willey earlier marked his England recall by taking his maiden five-wicket haul in internation?al cricket.

Willey, playing his first international game since being left out of the 2019 World Cup squad, took four wickets in his first four overs with the new ball and then returned to p??ick up the final wicket of the Ireland innings, finishing with 5-30.

The Irish side was reeling on 28/5 at one stage and could have suffered a far ?heavier defeat but was saved by an unbeaten 59 from 21-year-old debutant Curtis Campher. Together with Andy McBrine (40), Campher shared a stand of 66 runs for the eighth wicket, taking Ireland over 140+ score.

The win against Ireland has given England 10 points in their first gam??e of the newly formed ICC World Cup Super Leag??ue and a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Like the recent Test series against West I??ndies, all these m??atches are being played behind closed doors in a bio-secure bubble with two more ODIs to follow at the same venue on Saturday (August 1) and Tuesday (August 4).

Brief scores: Ireland 172 in 44.4 overs (Curtis Campher 59 not out; David Willey 5-30, Saqib Mahmood 2-36) lost to England 174/4 in 27.5 overs (Sam Billings 67 not out, Eoin Mo?rgan 36 not out; Craig Young 2-56) by six wickets.

After the conclusion of the ongoing Test series against West Indies, England will host Ireland for a three-match ODI series. It will be the first international white-ball contest since the COVID-19 pandem?ic hiatus.

The s??eries will mark the commencement of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have anno?unced their 14-member squad for the three-match affair.

England skipper Eoin Morgan will resume his captaincy duties with Moeen Ali as his deputy. Key players such as Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Joe Root and Ben Stokes remain un?available due ??to their engagement in the ongoing Test series against the Caribbeans. It prohibits them from joining the ODI squad while maintaining bio-secure protocols.

David Willey, who missed out on England’s triumphant 2019 O??DI World Cup campaign, made his way back into the fray.

Also, Reece Topley, who first made an English appearance in 2016, makes a comeback in the side, after battling with injury woes. Topley was sensational in the domestic T20 tournament last year as he picked?? up 17 wickets in just 11 games for Sussex. He will?? be competing with Willey for a place in the lineup.

Swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman, Sam Billings, who last featured in an? ODI back in 2018, also returns to the side. Although, Billings did feature in the T20I series against New Zealand last y?ear.

ECB also named their three reserve players who will remain with the squad at Ageas Bowl. If any player is found ill or sustains an injury du??ring the series, fast bowlers Richard Gleeson, Lewis Gregory or batsman Liam Livin?gstone will be called up.

Squad:

Eoin Morgan (c), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Joe Denly, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Reece Topley, James Vince, D?avid Willey.

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and middle-order batsman David Miller joined hands to take a sensational catch in the second T20I against Australia at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

During the game, Du Plessis and Miller combined for a brilliant boundary-line catch to remove Mitchell Marsh. It all happened in the 17th over of Australia’s chase when Marsh tried to whack the slower ball delivery by Lungi Ngidi for a maximum, but Du Plessis had some other plans.

Du Plessis managed to jump at the right time to take the catch and threw it back to Miller before falling over. Miller, who ran from the other side, quickly reacted and d??ived forward to complete the catch.

Chasing 159, the visitors needed 20 runs from the last two overs with David Warner in the middle, however, de?spite his presence, the Kangaroos only managed to score just seven runs from the final twelve balls and lost the contest.
