In a gripping moment of high drama during the Max 60 Caribbean 2024, Carlos Brathwaite of the New York Strikers provided a memorable spectacle of frustration and intensity. The incident took place during the ninth over of the reverse fixture between the New York Strikers and the Grand Cayman Jaguars.

Carlos Brathwaite hits the helmet with his bat after dismissal

Joshua Little was the bowler responsible for the pivotal moment. Delivering a bouncer back of a length on the stumps, Little challenged Brathwaite with a delivery that invited a risky pull shot. Brathwaite, known for his aggressive play, opted to gamble on the pull towards slip. However, the ball remained in the air and was expertly caught by Ben Dunk, resulting in Brathwaite’s ?dismissal for just 7 runs.

The dismissal sparked a visible display of frustration from the right-handed West Indies batter. After removing his helmet, he forcefully struck it with his bat, a dramatic gesture of his discontent. The act of hitting the helmet with his bat and then throwi?ng the bat in frustration captured the emotional highs and lows that char??acterize high-stakes cricket.

New York Strikers lose to Caribbean Tigers in the final

Despite Brathwaite’s early exit, his team, the New York Strikers, rallied to secure a crucial victory over the Grand Cayman Jaguars. This win propelled them into the finals of the Max 60 Caribbean, a momentous achievement for the team. However, their journey to the championship was ultimately marred by a decisive defeat to the Caribbean Tigers, who clinched the title w??ith a commandi??ng 56-run victory.

Well, the spectacle of Brathwaite’s helmet toss served as a dramatic reminder of the passion and intensity that drives players in this fast-paced format. As the New York Strikers reflect on their campaig?n, the tournament will be remembered for both its thrilling cricket and the unforgettable moments of high drama.

West Indies star Carlos Brathwaite, who is leading Birmingham Bears in the ongoing T20 Blast 2022, was penalised for ‘reckless’ behaviour after being hit with five penalty runs for throwing the ball at Derbyshire‘s Wayne Madsen on Sunday.

The incident took place in the 13th over of Derbyshire’s chase at Edgbaston, when Madsen attempted to take a run but turned back quickly to return to his crease. Brathwaite, meanwhile, had picked up the ball in his follow-through and instinctively threw it at the stumps. But the white leather instead hit Madsen’s bat handle, with the ball deflecting away for an overthrow.

The Birmingham captain immediately raised his hand to issu??e an apology, indicating it was not intentional. However, Madsen was unimpressed as he gesticulated towards the square-leg umpire to have a look into the matter.

Brathwaite, meanwhile, was spotted complaining to the standing umpire that his throw was just a reaction to Madsen stepping out of his crease, but the two umpires, after a consultation, overruled the Caribbean star’s appeal and awarded Derbyshire five extra runs in a 160-run chase that they eventually completed with 11 balls to spare.

Here is the video:

Brathwaite was ultimately penalised for a Level 2 offence under the MCC Laws regarding ‘Unfair Play’. Notably, Law 42.3.1 deals with occurrences of “throwing the ball at a player, umpire or another person in an inappropriate and dangerous manner”. Though, the same rule is not part of the playing conditions in international cricket and other franchise T20 tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“The umpires deemed Carlos Brathwaite’s throw reckless, which is what it was. I was in my crease, and he didn’t even look. I know it’s a competitive game, but if that had hit me on the back of the head like the umpires said, there is real trouble. Because I was back in my crease before he had even released the ball, it was a bit reckless,” Madsen told the ECB Reporters as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

In the 11th Match of ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), Sydney Sixers’ all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite justified his introduction into the attack by removing Adelaide Strikers’ skipper Alex Carey on the very first ball of his over.

Bowling from round the wicket, Brathwaite brought the delivery into the left-handed Carey and broke the latter’s defence to hit the off-stump.

During the 178-run chase, capt??ain Carey walked back to the dug-out for just 9. Brathwaite, on the other hand, registered bowling figures of 4/23.

Alex Carey’s dismissal:

Carlos Brathwaite’s unique celebration:

Put in to bat first, Sixers posted a competitive 177/5 on the board in their 20 overs, thanks to veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian’s 15-ball half-century.

In reply, the Strikers could manage to score only 139 runs at a loss of 7 wickets. For Sixers, along with Brathwaite, Ben Manenti and Steve O’Keefe also picked up two wickets apiece.

In the last over of the 2016 T20 ??World Cup final at Eden Gardens, West Indies ne?eded 19 to seal an unlikely win, with England all-rounder Ben Stokes set to deliver the final over.

What? ensued will live long in the memory of all cricket fans as Windies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite smashed four successive ma?ximums to guide his team home with two balls to spare, leaving Stokes shattered on his haunches in the middle of the pitch.

Brathwaite grabbed the headlines, but the ‘Man of the Match’ Marlon Samuels was the real architect behind the West Indies’ victory courtesy of his 66-ball unbeaten 85 – the highest individual score in a World T20 final, beating his own record of 78, scored in 2012.

betvisa888 cricket betCarlos Brathwaite – Cricket Times - betvisa888 cricket bet //betvisa68.com/2019/12/ipl-2020-three-players-chennai-super-kings-might-target-in-the-upcoming-auction/ Tue, 10 Dec 2019 08:38:05 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=34430

If there is?? one team that has earned the reputation of being the most consistent in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), then it is Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The ??MS Dhoni-led CSK has made it to the playoffs in every season they have played.

The biggest reason behind the success of CSK is that their team management is quite loyal t??owards the play?ers, and they back them players despite their poor form.

In 2019, Australian Shane Watson was entirely out of touch, yet he wa?s backed heavily, and he did perform in the second qualifier and the finals? by scoring 50 and 80, respectively.

The??y tend not to make too many changes, and they have once again backed their seniors ahead of the 2020 auction to be held on December 19 in Kolkata. This time they have a budget of INR 14.60 crore to fill the remaining slots.

So, let’s have a look at the three players that team yellow might target in the IPL 2020 auction:

Pat Cummins

Australian speedster Pat Cummins has been exceptional in the past few years. He may not have played a lot of T20 cricket in the last couple of years, but he’s one of the best all-format bowlers in the world at present.

Speaking about the IPL, Cummins first played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2014 and 2015 but didn’t get a lot of opportunities. In 2017, he played 12 matches for Delhi and picked up 15 wickets.

In 2018, Cummins was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for a sum of INR 5.6 crore, but due to a back injury, he was unable to take part in the IPL 2019. Therefore, he?? was released, and now he is back in the auction pool.

CSK’s home ground doesn’t offer much support to fast bowlers, and they have a solution in the form of medium-pacer like Dwayne Bravo and spin-duo of Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh. Still, they need a specialist paceman who can bowl quick spells, especially in the away conditions.

Although the team in yellow have Lungi Ngidi, he hasn’t been consistent for the side. If they go for Cummins in the auction, their problem of having an extra pacer will get a perfect solution.

Aaron Finch

In T20 internationals, Aaron Finch has scored nearly 1900 runs in 58 matches with two dazzling hundreds and 11 half-c?enturies. His strike-rate is above 150, which is quite remarkable.

In the IPL, Finch has played 75 matches and scored over 1700 runs with 13 fifties. The southpaw is quite familiar with the sub-continent conditions. He also can take the game away from the opposition at any time. Also, considering CSK’s current scenario Finch may be the perfect alternative as the backup opener.

Jaydev Unadkat

jaydev-unadakat-dhoni

Out-Of-Favor India fast bowler has been the most sought-after player in the past two seasons and on both occasions, CSK tried to rope in Unakdat. In 2018, they were involved in intense bidding with Kings XI Punjab but decided to back out after making a bid of Rs 10.50 crore. Next year, CSK made a bid of worth Rs 5.80 crore but weren’t successful once again.

It is likely that the team owners will again bid for Unadkat as they need an Indian pacer to replace Mohit Sharma. Playing alongside MS Dhoni in IPL 2017, for Rising Pune Supergiant, Unadkat formed a lethal pace attack with Shardul Thakur. In 2018 auction, CSK bought Shardul but couldn’t make the final bid for Unadkat.

This time, Unadkat’s price is unlikely to cross Rs 5 crore-mark and the franchise is again expected to make a bid for him.

Note: CSK only have two slots a?vailable for overseas players.

During the knockout game in the ong??oing Carribean Premier League (CPL), St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP) skipper Carlos Brathwaite was engaged in a heated argument with Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) opener Lendl Simmons.

The incident occurred during the Knight Riders’ innings when Simmons was batting with wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin. In the 8th over, Fabian Allen bowled a straight one to Ramdin, who flicked it towards square for a single.

After completi??ng the single, Ramdin and? Simmons walked down in the middle to have a chat.

However, the Patriots’ skipper Brathwaite, who was unhappy with the chatter between the batsmen, took the bails off at the non-strikers’ end and appealed for a run-out. The umpire instantly dismissed the appeal, noting that the ball was dead, but a furious Brathwaite was not having any of it.

After an altercation with the umpire, Brathwaite indulged in an argument with Ramdin. Simmons then stepped in f??rom the other end, and things got ugly after that.

The umpire fina?lly had a lengthy chat? with Brathwaite, and after a long delay, the game resumed.

Talking about the match, Knight Riders’ bowlers dominated the proceedings by restricting the Patriots on a paltry total of 125/7 in 20 overs. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers for TKR finishing with figures of 3/30 in his four overs.

In reply, TKR found it tough initia??lly, consuming several dot balls. Ramdin had once played 30 balls an??d scored 13 runs, adding pressure on Simmons.

Simmons got out to Brathwaite eventually after scoring 51 runs. Unfortunately for?????????????????????????? the Patriots, Ramdin ??gained momentum. Pollard notched 26 off nine balls, helping TKR win with eight balls to spare.

An all-round effort by Carlos Brathwaite ensured St Kitts and Nevis Patriots earn their third win in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The match between Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) couldn’t be decided in the stipulated 20 overs and the match went into the Super Over.

Leading his side from the front, Brathwaite stole the limelight in the Super Over as he first scored 17 runs ?with the bat and followed it by just conceding?? 5/1 in the tie-breaker.

Batting first, TKR got off to a good start courtesy Lendl Simmons, who is in sublime form. He fol?lowed up his previ??ous scores of 63 off 39 and 86 off 42 with a 45-ball 90, which included nine fours and six sixes.

In first ten overs, TKR had reached 122/1. Simmons continued from strength to strength and even after he was dismissed with the total at 140, Darren Bravo and James Neesham ensured the flow of runs did not stem. Sixty runs were scored off the ?last 30 balls, and the Kn?ight Riders ended on 216/4.

In reply, Evin Lewis was in an inspired mood for the hosts. He waited it out till the fourth over before smashing 31 runs off birthday boy Jimmy Neesham’s over, clearly indicating he meant business. Despite losing two early wickets, Patriots’ had 67 runs to their name by the end of the powerplay.

Patriots’ innings threatened to fall apart after the dismissal of Lewis and Mohammad Hafeez, but Brathwaite and Shamarh Brooks took matters into their hands and got the team to 155/4 in 15 overs. In a whirlwind sequence of events, the two were then sent back to the hut, but Fabian Allen laid into Kieron Pollard in the 18th over, hitting three sixes. The equation came down to 25 runs required off 12 balls, and finally 19 off six balls. And with Emrit hitting Neesham for 18 runs, the game went into the Super Over.

West Indies have had a rough outing in the last three months or so. The Caribbean side could only secure a couple of wins in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after starting the mega event with a thumping victory over Pakistan. After that, they lost the ODI?? and ?T20I series against India.

Now, it has been confirmed that Kieron Pollard will be the new West Indies’ captain in white-ball cricket. He will replace Jason Holder as ODI captain and Carlos Brathwaite as T20I captain.

While announcing Pollard as the new white-ball captain, Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Ricky Skerritt, on Monday, said: “We believe Kieron Pollard is the right person at the right time now to lead the West Indies team in white-ball cricket”.

Skerrit, however, said that Jason Holder would continue to lead West Indies in Test?? cricket.

“Jason Holder is a very important force, and he is still going to be our red ball captain,” Skerrit said.

The 32-year-old Pollard last played an ODI in 2016. He w??as kept in the reserves for the 2019 World Cup and then featured in the T20Is against India.

The big-hitting all-rounder has so far played 101 ODIs, in which he has scored 2,289 runs at an average of 25.71 wi?th three centuries and nine fifties. He has also claimed 50 wickets in the 50-over format. In T20Is, he has played 62 matches, scoring 903 runs at an average of 21.50 and has scalped 23 wickets.

Pollard’s first assignment as a limited-overs captain will begin from November 5, when Windies face Afghanistan, for a full-series in Dehradun. Both the sides will compete in three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test.

betvisa888 casinoCarlos Brathwaite – Cricket Times - betvisa login //betvisa68.com/2019/08/wi-vs-ind-carlos-brathwaite-shares-his-thoughts-ahead-of-the-3rd-odi/ Wed, 14 Aug 2019 09:10:09 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=31695

Despite winning only two ODIs out of their last 11, Carlos Brathwaite felt that the Men in Maroon weren’t performing as badly as shown by the stats. The West Indies T20I captain opened up about the team’s performance ahead of the must-win game against India.

“I don’t think we are that far away,” Brathwaite said after West Indies’ training session on Tuesday.

“We just continue to miss key points in the game. If we look back at the World Cup, it is the same thing. If we look at the game the other day, we weren’t cruising, but we were in a good position, and then we lost three or four quick wickets.?/em>

“We are just missing a few key moments that could have turned one or two loses into wins and make us look a little better, give us a little momentum, and start to try to win series more consistently.”

Chasing a target of 270 runs in 46 overs in the second O?DI, West Indies were 179 for 4 when they lost another 4 wickets far too quickly. Their score was soon 182 for 8 before being skittled out for 210. This turned out to be a huge disappointment for Jason Holder and his boys especially aft??er the 1st ODI was a washout.

West Indies

Brathwaite said it wasn’t a lack of intent, but a failure to execute their skills that had led to the losses.

“I don’t think it is belief per se. I think if you ask the guys in the dressing room if they believe they can win – I think they do believe they can win. The execution of that belief is lacking in key moments, like I said. So, I don’t think it’s a lack of belief or a lack of passion and in most cases it’s not even a lack of skill, but just executing what we want to execute the key moments of the game, which was the case in majority of the World Cup and this series so far.”

He believed that practice was the key to being consistent. But the all-rounder also mentioned that there was ve??ry little the??y could do in the middle of an international series.

“It’s practice. It’s conversation. If I am being brutally honest, there is not much we can change on the international tour. That is the challenge for the [domestic] franchise to be able to do enough work, get enough information from the guys at the top. And start implementing stuff. On the tour, we try to get the mind right, we try to, as a group, have conversations and honest conversations – not just patting them on the back but having honest conversations, sometimes even being harsh and try to become better players eventually.”

Carlos Brathwaite

As far as his own game was concerned, this is what he had to say –

“We are having a lot of honest conversations with the coaches and the staff and I think one thing that’s kept me back is my fitness. I am working very, very hard in the past 12 to 14 months on my fitness – I believe I can get a bit stronger as well.?/em>

“I think batting-wise, I have to reprogramme my thinking in thinking about hitting and swiping and batting properly. I think there has been a conscious effort for me to try to help the team as a batsman and a bowler and try to give myself the best chance for the team and try to help West Indies win cricket games.”

Everyone knows what Carlos Brathwaite is capable of. His 82-ball 101 against New Zealand in the World ???Cup would have done his confidence a world of good.

“I had a lot of time to bat. I had a clear thought process. I was working very hard off the pitch, as I am now, with the bat, in trying to do the right things and the simple things as long as possible. I had enough time so I could play myself in getting so at the back end when I normally come in to bat to start my innings I already had [faced] 40-50 balls.?/em>

“The challenge for me is that that situation won’t always present itself. Obviously, being at home, we have changed the combination a bit. There I played at seven [six], here at eight, nine or maybe seven – the thing I take away from that innings is the way I structured and built the innings which allowed me to kick off at the back end.”

Having trained ??hard to the core, Brathwaite said West Indies were all geared up for the third ODI, and were confident of making the series even-steven with India.

“We drew the last series against England at home as well. And then going into the last game it’s for us to get the batting in order – if we get good starts going into the back end that’ll give us a good chance.”

“I think the batting has much improved especially since the T20s and from the overall batting performance in the World Cup as well. But, we didn’t close it off. We batted well in the second game as well, it was about closing it off – hopefully that happens in the next game as well and for the lower half to close the game.”

India will fac??e off against the West Indies in the 3rd and final ODI on August 14, ??Wednesday at Port of Spain.
