He lauded Kohli for revolutionizing Indian cricket, emphasizing the transformation in fitness standards and the team’s relentless attitude under his leadership. On the other hand, Haddin praised Rohit’s tactical brilliance, highlighting his success in leading MI to multiple IPL triumphs.

“I thought Virat changed the way India prepared for their cricket. They became really ready. He held his play group to a high standard and he’s one of those captains who said I’m not going to get you to do anything that I’m not doing myself.’ You’ve seen the athleticism in the Indian cricket team change, and their mentality towards it. They were feeling energetic – their fitness and they dived when Kohli took over. And when they were up for the contest against Australia, he didn’t back down. He changed the modern game a lot in India and how India played,” said Haddin on the LiSTNER podcast.

“But on the other hand, Rohit Sharma is as good a captain tactically that you’ll see. He’s had a lot of success in the IPL. He’s captained there since Ricky Ponting left, and that would have been over 10 years. The players play for him and tactically, he’s as good as you’ll get in India and non subcontinent conditions,” added Haddin.

“I had braces the week before I got selected and I remember going to the orthodontist and saying: ‘I can’t go to Australia with a set of braces on my teeth’,” said Boult during a chat on Black Caps’ YouTube channel with teammate Kyle Jamieson.

The 30-year-old paceman reminisced the traditional welcome he received from the Australian team when he came out to bat. Boult even admitted that he was nervo?us coming down to fa??ce the Kangaroo attack.

“I specifically remember it, I walked out there to bat, absolutely packing myself and Brad Haddin looked at me and goes ‘mate, does your mother know where you are?’,” added the North Islander.

“He was just getting into me, and I stung myself… [but] I remember the celebrations after that, winning by six (seven, actually) runs,” concluded the Kiwi pacer.

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin has urged India’s Rishabh Pant to create his own identity.

Pant was out of favour for the New Zealand ODIs and garne??red only 60 runs in his four outings against the same opposition in the wh??ites.

After scoring tons in England and Australia??, Pant has not been? able to deliver with the bat, squandering opportunities provided by the management.

To make the situation worse, Pant has to walk behind the footpr?i??nts of legendary wicketkeeper-batsman, MS Dhoni. Additionally, his keeping qualities are not at par compared to Wriddhiman Saha and makeshift KL Rahul.

“Rishabh Pant should be him. That’s how he’s going to create his identity. He’s got to be himself,” Haddin advised the young wicketkeeper, according to Sportstar.

Pant was unfortunate to receive a blow on his head while playing a short delivery during Australia’s ODI tour to India earlier this year. Rahul has been keeping wickets ever since the management opted to play with an extra batsman in Manish Pandey.

“Expectation comes with anyone at this level and that’s one of the things you’ve got to deal with. But the most important thing is to create your own identity of what you want to be seen as,” continued Haddin.

Haddin, who recently featured for Australia Legends in the Road Safety Series, was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In July, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad appointed England’s World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss as the new head coach, replacing Tom Moody. And on Monday, they named former Australia wicket-keeper batsman Brad Haddin as their new assistant coach.

Both Bayliss and Haddin have prior IPL experience as they have worked for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but not at the same tim??e.

But, Haddin and Bayliss have prior experience working together and succeeded when they won the Champions League T20 for Sydney Sixer??s as captain and coach respectively, in 2012.
