In an encounter between the Perth Scorchers and the Melbourne Renegades at the Perth Stadium during the 26th match of the Big Bash League 2024-25, Kane Richardson’s superb delivery was one of the highlights of the first innings. The Renegades?medium-fast bowler produced a moment of brilliance to dismiss Perth Scorchers?captain Ashton Turner.

Kane Richardson’s masterful delivery sends Ashton Turner packing

It was the 7th over of the Perth Scorchers?innings when Richardson came in to bowl to Turner. On a good length, the ball nipped back into the right-handed Turner, who had no choice but?? to go for an ambitious drive. However, with his feet barely moving, Turner left a sizable gap between bat and pad, and the ball crashed into the stumps, leaving Turner stunned. The Scorchers?skipper was out for just 8 runs off 13 balls, and the Reneg??ades had their fourth wicket of the match.

Perth Scorchers were asked to bat first and managed to post a total of 147 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. The team struggled with the bat, with only a few notable contributions. Ashton Agar was the standout performer, scoring a valiant 51 runs off 30 balls, helping his team reach a competitive total in the first innings. The Melbourne Renegades?bowling attack was led by Adam Zampa, who put on an ??impressive performance. Zampa was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets and providing the much-needed breakthroughs to keep the Scorchers under control.

Teams on opposite ends of the standings

Both teams entered the match with different forms. The Perth Scorchers, sitting fifth on the points table with 6 points, have struggled with consistency, suffering a 4-wicket defeat to the Sydney Thunder in their previous match. On the other hand, the Melbourne Renegades were just below them in sixth place, with 4 points, and were reeling from three consecutive losses, including a 5-wicket defeat to the Melbourne Stars in their last outing. This match was crucial for both teams to bounce back and gain some momentum in the com??petition.

betvisa liveAshton Turner – Cricket Times - betvisa login //betvisa68.com/2020/01/ind-vs-aus-2020-5-australian-players-to-watch-out-for-in-the-odi-series/ Mon, 13 Jan 2020 14:30:42 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=36041

India and Australia will lock horns in a three-match ODI series starting from January 14. The thriller contest between the two teams will undoubtedly spell-bind the fans. The ‘Men in Blue’ have played six ODIs after the 2019 ODI World Cup, whereas Australia hasn’t featured in any 50-over game post the ICC event in England.

The last time when Aussies were here, they defeated the Indian team. That was the first ODI series loss for Virat Kohli at home, and therefore, he would be willing to take the retaliation. At the same time, Aaron Finch-led side would be optimistic about winning t??heir first limited over series of the year 2020.

One can’t pick the favorites amongst the two nations as both are capable of doing wonders on the cricket field. With the presence of David Warner and Steve Smith, the Australians would be in confidence to take on India’s challenge; but still, they are going to miss power-hitter Glenn Maxwell, who’s been rested this tour.

Before the teams head on to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to play the series opener let’s have a look at the five Australian players who would be ready to face the music and prove their worth:

1) Marnus Labuschagne

Marnus Labuschagne

Taking Test cricket by a storm and shaking the entire world with his consistency, Marnus Labuschagne will be on everyone’s radar. After playing phenomenal cricket with red-ball, Labuschagne is set to make his debut for the national side in the upcoming series.

After scoring four centuries and a double ton in the longest format of the game with a stunning average of 63.43, Labuschagne would be hopeful to carry-on his Tests form in the limited-overs format as well. Having said that, it still won’t be easy-peasy for the right-handed batsman as this time he would be batting against quality spin-attack.

2) Alex Carey

Alex Carey

In 2010, Alex Carey captained the Aussie side, no not in? cricket, it was in football, but his career went downhill over the next few years. When, h??e was left out of the team, he then focused on cricket.

Picked in the later half of 2018, Carey has given a glimpse of his extraordinary talent. So far, the wicket-keeper batsman has played 29 ODIs and amassed 800-plus runs with 85 being his best. Recently, the 28-year-old said that he wants to finish games like India’s former skipper MS Dhoni.

Carey is a pro??mising talent, and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has also shown trust after taking him in the Delhi Capitals during the 2020 IPL auction.

3) Ashton Turner

ashton turner

When the last time Australia visited India, it was Ashton Turner who made his debut in the ODI series. He played three matches and scored 125 runs. One cannot forget his unbeaten 43 balls-84 in the fourth ODI when Australia chased down the target of 359 with 13 balls to spare. However, the 26-year-old didn’t play any ODI since then as he wasn’t picked for the five-match ODI tour in UAE, followed by the 2019 WC.

In?? India, Turner had a great show, and he would like to continue from where he left. His art of clean hitting makes the bowlers run for their money. This will be a golden opportunity for Turner to secure his place primarily in the absence of Maxwell.

4) Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood

A tall and accurate pace bowler who has impressed the cricketing world with his unrelenting attitude towards batsmen, Josh Hazlewood, is going to be a crucial player ?for the Aussies in the upcoming ODI series against India.

The New South Wales bowler has played 44 OD?Is and taken 72 wickets, however, due to a stress injury, the right-ar??mer missed out last ODI tour of India and the World Cup as well.

Hazlewood last played an ODI against England on November 11 in 2018; therefore, he would be looking forward to shine for his nation in the limited-over format like he’s currently doing with the red-ball.

5) Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa

Another New South Wales player, Adam Zampa, has been picked in the ODI side for the series against India?. Zampa, whose run-up and action remind??s people of Shane Warne, has scalped 65 wickets in 48 ODI games.

Zampa’s addition is crucial because Indian batsmen have struggled against the leg-spinners.

Zampa knows the art? of bowling quality googlies and has been successful in bemusing batsmen with his talent.

Recently, in the matches against West Indies and Sri Lanka, Indian batsmen were seen scuffling against spinners. From Hayden Walsh to Lakshan Sandakan, the batting unit of the Indian team didn’t look up to the mark while facing these two bowlers. And Zampa would also be hoping to trouble the Indian batters in the upcoming series.

The process of toss in cricket is pretty straightforward, and within a?? blink of an eye, the procedure gets to completion. Still, the Queensland cricketer Usman Khawaja made the toss in the 2019 Marsh Cup final way much interesting.

When Khawaja, who was captaining Queensland against Ashton Turner’s Western Australia, was asked to flip the coin by the match referee, he took a short run-up and threw the coin in the air which landed far on the pitch.

This left the match referee, commentator, and Turner in splits. However, the spellbinding strategy didn’t work for Khawaja as he lost the toss. A video of the strange toss was shared by the official Twitter account of Western Australia.

Speaking about the match, after winning the toss, Western Australia asked Queensland to bat first and with the clinical performance from Jhye Richardson (3-35) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (3-47) they restricted Khawaja’s team at 205.

Chasing the target of 206 wasn’t easy for Western Australia as they lost their three wickets only on 25 runs, but then Narrogin born Shaun Marsh took charge and scored a brilliant hundred to take his team to victory. Marsh took 127 balls to reach his century, and this was his ninth ton in domestic one-day cricket. For the tremendous show, he was rewarded with the player of the match award.

Ashton Turner got a lot of love from his Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammates after finally scoring his first run ??in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Turner, who had so far made three golden ducks in the tournament, remained not out on 3 as the hosts defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.

Chasing 161 runs to win, Rajasthan got ??to a flying start as their opening batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane and Liam Livingstone, struck ?regular boundaries in the powerplay overs. Both added a 78-run stand which came to an end when Rashid Khan got hold of Livingstone, who scored 44 runs. Rahane gave away his wicket after scoring 39 runs.

Sanju Samson and Steve Smith then added anot??her 55 runs to the scoreboard before the RR skipper got out. However, both had already set the base for the upcoming batsman as they were just 13 runs away from?? victory.

26-year-o??ld Turner came out to bat and both Turner and Samson took their side o??ver the finishing line.

India captain Virat Kohli was left stunned as Australia’s middle-order batsman Ashton Turner survived a controversial DRS call and went on to lead the visitors to a series-levelling victory in the fourth ODI in Mohali.

Needing 66 runs off just 39 balls to surpass India’s massive total of 359, Turner was caught in dire straits when wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant asked for a review.

Turner – who was on 41 – had chased down a wide delivery from spinner Yuzvendra Chahal when Pant insisted that the batsman had edged the ball.

The Snickometer showed a spike as the ball passed the bat but it had shown lighter disturbances even before the ball reached the batsman as well and the third umpire decided that there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the on-field decision.

With Turner going on to score an unbeaten 84 off 43 balls to lead Australia to victory, the Indian captain? was still fuming at the post-match presenta??tion ceremony.

“But the DRS call was a bit of surprise for all of us and it’s becoming a more of a talking point every game, it’s just not consistent at all, that was a game-changing moment,” said Kohli.

Here’s the video:

This isn’t the first time that DRS has come into the spotlight in the ongoing series. In Ranchi, Aaron Finch was adjudged out on 93 with the ball-tracker showing a clear error.

A sensational cameo from Ashton Turner powered Australia to storm b?ack in the ongoing five-match series against India with the visitors securing a four-wicket win in the fourth ODI at PCA stadium in Mohali on Sunday.

Turner smashed an unbeaten 84 from just 43 deliveries with the help of five fours and six sixes as India’s total of 358-9 was made to look ordinary in the end.

Chasing a daunting 359 to keep the series alive, Australia were rocked early by Indian seamers with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah remov?ing Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh respectivel??y.

However, the visitors fought back hard through a 192-run partnership for the third wicket between Usman Khawaja and Pet?er Handscomb. When the pair threaten to take the game away from India, ?Bumrah returned back to dismiss Khawaja who missed out on his second consecutive ton by nine runs.

Handscomb, though, would not be denied his maiden ODI ton with the right-hander bringing up his century off 92 deliveries. His excellent 117-run kn?ock was ended by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 42nd over with the wrist-spinner making amends for an otherwise exp?ensive outing.

With Handscomb and Khawaja losing their wickets, Australia was under pre??ssure but a special knock from Turner and a partnership with Alex Carey clinched the match for the visitors.

Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of Australia’s squad for the first ODI against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) after spending two days in hospital with the stomach illness gastritis.

Ashton Turner, the Western Au??strali??a and Perth Scorchers batsman, has been called up as cover after showing impressive form in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL|08) with Australia coach Justin Langer lauding his running between the wickets and finishing skills.

“I remember when Mike Hussey came into Australian cricket, the thing that almost got him a shot in the one-day side was his running between his wickets,” Langer said.

“That might sound like the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard but you watch Ashton Turner, the way he runs between wickets is unbelievable.

“He’s such a great athlete, it puts so much pressure (on the opposition). One of the hallmarks of great Australian teams, you think about Dean Jones and Michael Bevan and Michael Hussey, is the running between (wickets). It’s a basic (skill) but we’ve also been talking about getting players who can finish off innings and he’s shown that in what we can go off in Big Bash cricket, he’s in great form.”

Turner has previously played three T20Is against Sri Lanka in 2017 and ha??s hit a timely run in the BBL|08 with scores of 60 not out, 47 and 43 not out in his last three innings.

“He can finish the innings off well, an elite athlete in the field and he’s also a captain,” Langer said. “You see the way he finishes off an innings that he’s a good thinker of the game like most of the great finishes and a really good leader, good person around the group. Very excited to see him come in.”

Australia’s squad for first ODI:

Aaron Finch (c), J??ason Behrendorff, Alex Carey (wk), Peter Handscomb, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Ashton Turner, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa.

Australia’s right-handed batsman Ashton Turner hit the roof of the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne to get six runs in a Big Bash League (BBL) match on Friday.

Batting for the Perth Scorchers, Turner became the first batsman to get an advantage of the new rule in the BBL. The 25-year-old smashed the first ball of the 12th over bowled by Melbourne Renegades’ all-rounder Daniel Christian, which went up straight to hit the roof of the stadium.

The umpire ?signalled a six despite the ball landing just outside the 30-yard circle after hitting the roof.

Even the commentators, Shane Warne and Brett Lee were left surprised with the rewarding rule. A startled Warne was heard saying: “Six and he can’t be out?”

Here’s the video:

Turner later said that he was ‘lucky’ but also made it clear that the rule should be changed.

“I think it’s a pretty bad rule,” Turner told cricket.com.au. “It saved me tonight ?I think it’s not fair.

“It should be a dead ball ?you can’t predict whether they’re going to catch it, so there’s no fairer outcome than a dead ball.

“It’s a little bit different if you think it might have hit the roof over the boundary rope (but) it might be hard to detect where it’s actually (going to land) and if it’s going to go for six,” he added.
