The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 has delivered unparalleled drama and surprises, keeping cricket enthusiasts on the edge of their seats. With Australia leading the series 2-1 after a dominant display in Melbourne, the stakes are sky-high as the action shifts to Sydney. The upcoming fifth Test at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7 will be the ultimate decider – whether India retains the coveted ?trophy or Australia reclaims it after ye?ars of longing.

Melbourne Test: A tale of missed opportunities

India’s valiant effort in the Melbourne Test was undone by a catastrophic collapse in the final session, where they lost seven wickets for just 34 runs. The heroics of Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar provided glimpses of hope, but they could not stave off defeat. Australia’s resounding win in the Boxing Day Test has left the Indian camp with everything to play for in Sydney. Rohit Sharma and his men are now in a must-win scenario to keep their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final hopes alive while ensuring the?? BGT remains in their grasp.

High stakes in the Sydney finale

The Sydney Test holds immense significance for both teams. For India, a victory would mean retaining th??e Border-Gavaskar Trophy and staying in contention for a spot in the 2025 WTC final. On the other hand, Australia will look to close the series with a historic triumph, ending their series drought against India on home soil. The clash promises to be a high-octane battle, with the visitors aiming for redemption and the hosts looking to cement their dominance.

Predictions from Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist

As excitement builds for the decisive Test, cricketing legends Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist have weighed in on their expectations, providing a clear vote of confidence in the Australian team. Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast, both experts predicted an Australian victory in the final Test over India. With the BGT and a place in the WTC final at stake, Gilchris??t and Vaughan firmly believe Australia’s hunger for victory will propel them to a series-clinching win.

Vaughan, known for his incisive cricketing insights, declared confidently, “Australia, and that will be 3-1,”. Gilchrist, one of the most influential players in cricket history, aligned with Vaughan’s prediction, stating, “Australia, I think Australia,”.

The much-awaited third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 between Australia and India is set to take place at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane. With the series level at 1-1, both teams have everything to play for as they chase victory to edge closer to a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The match promises to be an electrifying contest, with both sides showcasing immense talent an??d determination throughout the series.

Both teams eye crucial win

The Gabba has historically been a fortress for Australia, with the team boasting 42 wins out of 66 Tests at the venue. India, on the other hand, has managed just one victory in seven matches at this ground. While the Australians will look to capitalize on their home advantage, India will aim to defy the odds and put up a spirited fight to secure a? rare win. A victory here would not only shift the series in favor of the winner but also boost their momentum heading into the final Test.

Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist share their prediction

Former Australian cricketers Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist have shared their predictions regarding the outcome of the match. The duo thrown their weight behind the hosts to come out on top in the crucial Gabba Test. They highl??ighted Australia’s unparalleled record at the venue and the challenges the Indian team could face on a surface offering extra bounce and pace.

Hayden reflected on how the conditions at Brisbane could test India’s batting lineup. He also acknowledged India’s competitive spirit but reinforced his belief in Australia’s ability to exploit home conditions effectively.

“I’m aligning with Australia. India, I think, will struggle with the bounce and pace of this wicket again. But I do think it’s going to be a close game. Still, I’ve got Australia to win,” said Hayden while speaking on SEN Breakfast.

Gilchrist echoed Hayden’s confidence in the Australian side and went a step further by making a specific prediction for the match. He reckoned that Marnus Labuschagne, who is ??currently struggling with the form, will comeback and smash a century.

“I do (think Australia can go up 2-1). And I’m tipping a Marnus hundred,” said Gilchrist.

betvisa888 cricket betAdam Gilchrist – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2024/11/adam-gilchrist-reveals-his-top-three-pakistan-batters-of-all-time/ Tue, 12 Nov 2024 02:01:36 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=162748

Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist recently shared his admiration for Pakistan’s rich cricketing history by naming his top three Pakistani batters of all time. Known for his explosive batting and skilled wicketkeeping, Gilchrist emphasized the impact each player had on Pakistan cricket through their unique qualities.

Adam Gilchrist picks his top three Pakistani batters

From consistency during challenging periods to game-changing moments and resilience against top international attacks, Gilchrist’s selections reflect the diverse talents that have defined Pakistan’s batting legacy. His picks pay homage to the skill, composure, and strategic strength these players brought to the game.

Mastering calmness in challenging times

At third, Gilchrist chose Mohammad Yousuf, praising the Pakistan cricketer’s impressive milestone of being the leading Test run-scorer in a single calendar year, with nine centuries. Gilchrist emphasized Yousuf’s calmness and composure on the field, qualities that allowed him to anchor Pakistan’s lineup during a period of transition. Gilchrist admired how Pakistan could rely on Yousuf’s consistent performance, which often became the foundation of their game plan.

“Mohammad Yousuf, Yousuf Youhana he went by that name for much of his career, at one calender year he was the leading run-scorer, I think he scored nine Test match centuries in a calender year, he was a class act so much composure, so much calmness around a time when it was a bit of a transitioning time for Pakistan cricket, so they built their whole match plan around him,” Gilchrst said on Fox Cricket.

Defining moments and leadership impact

Coming in at number two was Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan captain and chief selector. Known for his power and calmness under pressure, Inzamam had a breakout moment during the 1992 World Cup. Gilchrist reminisced about a memorable 1999 Test in Hobart, where a remarkable catch by Mark Waugh dismissed Inzamam, a turning point in the game.

“He arrived in the 1992 World Cup at such a young age, and there’s a famous victory in Hobart in 1999 where we chased down the total. I don’t mention that because I got some runs, but the turning point in that game was when Mark Waugh took a blinder catch to get Inzi out. Inzi got a second innings hundred. If he doesn’t hold on to that, it was a turning point for Pakistan at that time,” added Gilchrist.

Overcoming the world’s toughest bowlers

Gilchrist’s top pick was Javed Miandad, celebrated as one of Pakistan’s greatest. Gilchrist pointed out that Miandad faced some of the strongest opponents, including the formidable West Indies and Australian teams, and still maintained his high performance. This resilience and skill against top-quality bowlers make Miandad, in Gilchrist’s eyes, Pakistan’s greatest batter.

“What stood out for me about Javed Miandad were his numbers, which are outstanding. He was immaculate in Test cricket. But what makes him exceptional is the quality of attacks he had to face in his era. He faced the mighty West Indies, the formidable Australian attack, and many others. It was an era where most nations had really strong attacks, so he had to take them on against the best. That’s why he’s my number one,” Gilchrist concluded.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan was recently put on the spot alongside former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist. The discussion revolved around a hypothetical game centered on the Indian Premier League (IPL), where Vaughan was tasked with making a crucial decision: choosing between cricket legends MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma for his ideal playing XI. The challenge required him to decide who he would play, who he would bench, and who he?? would sell to another franchise.

Michael Vaughan’s bold choices in IPL’s ‘play, sell or benchgame

Without missing a beat, Vaughan declared his choice, he confidently chose to play Dhoni as captain, citing his unmatched leadership and IPL success. He decided to sell Virat, pointing out that Virat has never won the IPL, while opting to bench Rohit, noting Rohit’s six IPL titles as a reason for keeping him as Dhoni’s substitute.

“I’m playing MS Dhoni. I don’t think anyone’s been better. No (Virat doesn’t find a place). MS is the captain. He’s playing. What was the other thing? Selling? I’m getting rid of Virat. I’m getting rid of him because he’s never won the IPL. Rohit is a six-time winner. MS how many? Five! So I’m playing MS, I’m selling Virat. What was the other one? Yeah, so Rohit is my MS substitute,â€?said Vaughan in a Cricket.com podcast.

The former England batter fur?ther remarked that selling Kohli would bring in a substantial amount of money, making it a smart business decisi??on.

“I can get a good load of cash for him (Kohli). He’ll go somewhere else for a huge amount of money. That’s good business,â€?he added.

The IPL: A festival of cricketing superstars

The hypothetical nature of the game sparked excitement among fans, as IPL enthusiasts always enjoy debates around their favorite players. Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings, is often hailed as one of the greatest minds in cricket, with his ability to win matches under pressure. Rohit, captain of the Mumbai Indians, holds the record for the most IPL titles along with Dhoni, having led his team to victory five times. Virat, although yet to win an IPL title with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, remain?s one of the most succe?ssful and admired cricketers globally, known for his aggressive style and unmatched consistency.

The IPL, celebrated like a festival in India, is one of the most popular cricket leagues in the world. Fans eagerly await each season to watch these iconic players in action. Clashes between Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are often the highlight of the tournament, with millions of viewers tuning in to witness the battle between cricket’s giants.

Adam Gilchrist names his all-time Ashes XI

In a recent chat with Cricket.com, former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist named his all-time Ashes XI, comprising some of the greatest players who excelled in this high-pressure series. While many of Gilchrist’s selections were expected, his choice of Shane Warne as captain over othe?r notable leaders raised eyebr?ows, adding a unique touch to his lineup.

Star openers

Gilchrist chose the explosive duo of Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer to open the batting for his all-time Ashes XI. The pair was known for their aggressive yet calculated approach, consistently giving Australia strong starts duri?ng their Ashes campaigns.

Hayden made 1461 runs in Ashes matches, averaging 58.93 with five centuries. His combination of brute strength and elegant stroke play made him a nightmare for English bowlers. Similarly, Langer accumulated 1658 runs at an impressive average of 56.62 in Ashes contests, with five centuries. Langer’s determination and resilience often wore down the opposition, and his partnership with Hayden became one of the most productive in Ashes history.

Dynamic middle order featuring Don Bradman

Gilchrist’s middle order is filled with cricketing giants, starting with Don Bradman, widely regarded as the greatest batter of all time. Bradman dominated Ashes series like no one else, amassing 5028 runs at an astonishing average of 89.78, including 19 centuries. His Ashes record remains unmatched to this day, with ‘The Don’ single-handedly demolishing England’s bowling attacks throughout his career.

Steve Smith, the modern-day batting sensation, has already cemented his place in Ashes history. With 3417? runs at an outstanding average of 56.01, Smith’s 12 centuries reflect his hunger for runs and ability to adapt in challenging conditions.

Michael Hussey, known for his calmness under pressure, played pivotal roles in Australia’s middle order. Hussey scored 1304 Ashes runs at an average of 59.27, with four centuries. His stability and reliability added immense value to his team in crunch situations.

Gilchrist selected Brad Haddin as the wicketkeeper for his all-time Ashes XI. Haddin, who? took over from Gilly, made his mark in Ashes history with his exceptional skills behind the stumps and with the bat. Haddin scored 1366 runs in Ashes contests at an impressive average of 41.31, including three centuries. His Ashes batting performances were crucial, especially during the 2013-14 series when he made several lower-order contributions to help Australia dominate the series.

Brilliant bowling attack

Gilchrist’s Ashes XI features an enviable bowling attack led by Shane Warne, who i??s not only the capt?ain but also the greatest leg-spinner to grace the Ashes stage. Warne’s influence with the ball and tactical mind makes him the perfect leader of this team.

Warne holds the record for the most wickets in Ashes history with 195 wickets at an average of 23.25. Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist, one of the greatest wicket-keeper batters the game has ever seen, recently revealed his picks for the top three wicket-keeper batters in cricket history. Gilchrist, who revolutionized the role of wicket-keeper with his explosive batting and impeccable glove wo?rk, named one Australian, one Indian and a Sri ??Lankan as his all-time favorites.

Adam Gilchrist’s idol

Rodney Marsh, the Australian wicket-keeping icon, holds a special place in Gilchrist’s heart. Recalling the influence Marsh had on him as a young cricketer, Gilchrist said, “Rodney Marsh, he was my idol. That’s who I wanted to be.”

Marsh, known for his gritty performances behind the stumps and his aggressive batting lower down?? the order, played a significant role in shaping the future generation of Australian wicket-keepers. His partnership with legendary bowler Den??nis Lillee is etched in cricket history as one of the most successful wicketkeeper-bowler duos.

For Gilchrist, Marsh was not just a cricketer to emulate but a symbol of toughness and commitment. Marsh’s influence on Australian cricket was profound, and his legacy as a wicket-keeper batter continues to inspire generations.

The epitome of calmness

Gilchrist also named MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain, as one of his greatest wicket-keeper batters. Known for his calm demeanor and unflappable leadership, Dhoni made a lasting impac?t on world cricket.

“MS Dhoni, I like his coolness. He did it in his way, always calm,” Gilchrist remarked, highlighting Dhoni’s ability to stay composed under pressure.

Notably, Dhoni’s legacy goes beyond just his skills with the bat and gloves; his ability to lead India to multiple ICC trophies, including the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy, has sol?idified his status as one of the most successful cap?tains in cricket history. Whether it was finishing games with his trademark helicopter shot or guiding young players with his cool-headed approach, Dhoni’s impact on cricket is unparalleled.

The classy performer

The third wicket-keeper batter on Gilchrist’s list is Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara. Praising Sangakkara’s elegance and versatility, Gilly said: “He was so classy in everything he did, batting high up the order and with his keeping skills.”

Sangakkara, who not only excelled as a wicket-keeper but also as one of the finest top-order batters in cricket, redefined the role of a wicket-keeper batter. His ability to score big runs w??hile maintaining his responsibilities behind the stumps made him a vital asset for Sri Lanka. With over 14,000 runs in Test cricket and nearly 13,000 runs in ODIs, Sangakkara’s records speak for themselves. His graceful stroke play, coupled with his sh??arp reflexes behind the stumps, made him one of the most complete cricketers of his era.

Gilchrist’s take on Australia vs India

In addition to sharing his top three wicket-keeper batters, Gilchrist also weighed in on the ongoing debate about the strength of the Australian and Indian cricket teams. Gilchrist acknowledged Australia’s dominance at home but emphasized that India has proven their ability to win overseas, making the riva??lry between the two cricketing powerhouses even more intense.

“Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India know how to go away and win overseas. Naturally, I’m going to say Australia, hope they get there. But it’s too close to call. It will be a close tussle,” Gilchrist added.

With both teams having strong lineups and recent success, Gilchrist believes that the contest between Australia and India is too close to predict, and cricket fans can expect a thri?lling series when the two teams face off.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) has become one of the most fiercely contested Test series in modern cricket, with India and Australia engaging in epic battles over the years. The rivalry has? only intensified in the last decade, particularly as India has emerged victorious in the last three series, including two on Australian soil. The upcoming five-match Tes?t series, scheduled to start in late November 2024, is expected to be another chapter in this storied rivalry.

Australia’s quest to reclaim dominance

Australia, led by Pat Cummins, is under pressure to reassert their dominance at home, especially after losing the last two BGT series to India in their own backyard. The 2024 series is critical for Australia, not just for the pride of winning the BGT but also as a preparation for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final in 2025. Despite winning the WTC title and the ODI World Cup recently, the loss of the BGT remains?? a sore point for Australia.

India’s confidence and overseas success

India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will enter the series with confidence, knowing they have the formula to win overseas, particularly in Australia. Their recent success, including the historic series win under Virat Kohli in 2018-19 and Ajinkya Rahane in 2020-21, has set a high standard. The Indian team’s ability to adapt to foreign conditions and perform consistently has made them a formidable opponent in any away series, particularly against Australia.

Adam Gilchrist predicts the winner of the BGT 2024-25

As anticipation builds for the upcoming BGT between India and Australia, legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist has weighed in on the potential outcome of the hig?hly anticipated series. With India set to tour Australia for the five-match Test series starting in late November 2024, Gilchrist emphasized the challenge that lies ahead for both teams, particularly for the hosts.

In an interview with The Times of India, Gilchrist highlighted that the onus is on the Australian team to prove their dominance at home, especially after their recent struggles against India in this particular series. Australia have not won the BGT in over a decade, with India securing memorable victories during their last two tours of Australia. Even though Gilchrist went for host to win the contest, he acknowledged that In?dia have developed a reputation for being formidable in overseas conditions, making the upcoming series a significant test for Cummins and his team.

“Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India know how to go away and win overseas. Naturally, I’m going to say Australia, hope they get there. But it’s too close to call. It will be a close tussle,” Gilchrist said.

The cricketing world was sent into a frenzy when renowned commentator David Lloyd made a startling comparison between a young English batter and the legendary Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist. Lloyd made these remarks after the conclusion of the third and final Test between England and West Indies in Birmingham. Notably, the young Englishman’s electrifying performance in the final Test has undoubtedly turned heads, but does he truly possess the same explosive qualities as the former Aussie powerhouse?

The Meteoric rise

The player that Lloyd talked about was Jamie Smith, who has? certainly caught the eye of many with his aggressive batting style and ability to dismantle bowling attacks. His innings of 95 in the third Test against West Indies, where he showcased a wide array of strokes and a fearless approach, was reminiscent of th??e way Gilchrist used to dominate bowlers. Lloyd, known for his astute observations, was quick to draw the parallel, suggesting that Smith could be the next big thing in English cricket.

David Lloyd draws comparisons with Adam Gilchrist

Lloyd expressed his admiration for Smith after watching him play for the first time. Despite hearing positive feedback from trusted sources, Lloyd’s firsthand experience exceeded his expectations, drawing comparisons to the excitement he felt during Kevin Pietersen‘s era. Lloyd believes Smith has the potential for a long and impactful career, capable of dominating matches similarly to how Gilchrist did.

“I’ve heard a lot about Jamie Smith from some very knowledgeable people, but this weekend was the first time seeing him in the flesh. Wow, and double wow. I haven’t been on the edge of my seat like that since the days of Kevin Pietersen. Smith is going to be around a very long time. He’s going to take games away from the opposition. Shades of Adam Gilchrist,” Lloyd wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

Similarities and differences

While Smith’s batting style bears some resemblance to Gilchrist’s, it’s important to note that they are different players in different eras. Cricket has evolved significantly since Gilchrist’s heyday, and the challenges faced by batsmen today are different. Moreover, Gilchrist was also an exceptional wicket-keeper, a facet that Smith is yet to fully establish himself in.

Not to mention, Gilchrist was more than just a wicket-keeper; he was a match-winner with the bat. His explosive starts, ability to clear the boundary with ease, and his knack for turning the game on its head made him a formidable force. His impa??ct on the game was immense, and any comparison to him is undoubt??edly a huge compliment.

Former Pakistan cricketer Saleem Malik has accused all-rounder Imad Wasim of deliberately wasting deliveries during Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 match against India in New York on Sunday (June 9). Malik’s claims came after Pakistan suffered a narrow six-run defeat despite dominating for much of the game.

Imad, who recently came out of retirement to join the World Cup squad, batted at No. 5 following Fakhar Zaman‘s dismissal. He scored 15 runs off 23 balls out of which 12 were dot balls. He could only scored one boundary during Pakistan’s chase of 120 runs.

Saleem Malik’s controversial remarks on Imad Wasim

Malik, speaking on Monday, accused Wasim of intentionally playing a sluggish knock t?o protect his batting average rather than taking risks to accelerate the scoring rate.

“He [Imad Wasim] made sure he doesn’t get out and keep bettering his batting average. If I’m a batter and I’m not getting runs, then I would try taking a risk, no matter if I get out. But he kept on eating up deliveries and then changed ends with singles,” Malik was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

“Imad Wasim didn’t get to play much cricket since the last PSL. Shadab Khan, who scored 40-odd against the USA in the last game, shouldn’t have been promoted up the order. Sorry, but I would like to question why he [Imad Wasim] was promoted up the order, given that he hadn’t got enough chances before [the World Cup]. The batter should at least have tried something instead of playing dot balls,” Malik concluded.

Adam Gilchrist’s response

Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist reacted to Malik’s comments with sarcasm, noting the irony of Malik’s accusations given his own controversial past. Malik, a former Pakistan cricketer who played in 100 Test matches and was a member of the 1992 World Cup-winning team, received a lifetime ban in 2000 due to match-fixing allegations.

“A bunch of ex-Pakistan cricketers haven’t missed their teams, at all. I mean Saleem Malik, of all people… I’m just reading the comments and paraphrasing, and I haven’t heard him say, but had I heard him, it wouldn’t have been to my benefit because it was in Urdu. He accused Imad (Wasim) of chewing up deliveries on purpose to make it a bit more interesting. Now I don’t know if there are other accusations which come with that,” Gilchrist said with a smile of sarcasm..

Rashid Latif’s reaction

Rashid Latif, another former Pakistan cricketer, expressed his disgust over Malik’s comments. Sharing Gilchrist’s video on X (formerly Twitter), Latif criticized Malik for making such controversial statements, calling ex Pakistan cricketers an international embarrassment.

“Adam Gilchrist finding it ironic that a convicted fixer like Saleem Malik is accusing Imad Wasim of “underperforming deliberatelyâ€?against India. Pakistani ex-cricketers are international embarrassment,” Latif wrote.

Pakistan’s journey in the ongoing T20 World Cup has been disappointing so far. They lost their first game in a surprising manner against co-hosts United States of America (USA) and followed it up with a narrow defeat to arch-rivals India in a low-scoring encounter. However, they finally tasted victory by defeating Canada. Pakistan will face ??Ireland in their last group stage match in Florida and will have to depend on the results of other teams in their group to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
