“That’s the aim, It’s four overs in T20s. So physically it’s quite a nice build up for the World Test Championship final, and then the Test matches after that. That’s the aim at this stage �?start bowling over the next week or so, building up, and should be right for IPL. It’s probably just making sure you’re still bowling quite a few balls (during the IPL). The good thing about a T20 tournament is the intensity is really high, so that obviously helps quite a bit,” Cummins said.

A season of change for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Earlier this year, Steyn had opted out of IPL 2024 due to personal reasons, leading SRH to appoint former New Zealand cricketer James Franklin as their bowling coach. Franklin worked alongside head coach Daniel Vettori during a season that saw SRH reach the finals for the first time since 2018. Their successful run culminated in a final against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), ????although they ultimately fell short of clinching the title.

As SRH prepares for the next season, they may consider retaining their current coaching staff due to their recent successes under Vettori and Franklin. The franchise will undoubtedly miss Steyn’s presence but can take solace in his ongoing contributions to cricket through his role with Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
