Welcome to our 2024 T20 World Cup betting tips and predictions. India is the betting favourite. England are the defending champions. But with Travis Head, Pat Cummins and in particular Mitchell Starc coming off the back of impressive IPL campaigns, we feel that the Aussies will be hard to stop. They know how to get the job done, and at odds of 4.30 with Rajabets, Australia is our prediction to win the 2024 T20 World Cup.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup betting tips

A record 20 nations are taking part in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The competition runs for just under a month, June 2nd – June 29th, taking place in the West Indies and USA. All the top performers from world cricket are there, and they will all be looking to influence the competition with both bat and ball. Below we name our predictions and best bets for the most popular 2024 T20 World Cup betting markets.

Top Batsman

Virat Kohli is favourite to be the top batsman at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The former Indian skipper has just had a spectacular IPL, winning the coveted Orange Cap with a staggering 741 runs.

Kohli is 7.5 to add the top batter at the T20 World Cup to his list of achievements.

Also among the favourites alongside Kohli are his Indian teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. Both are 12.0.

In a market dominated by opening batters, other notable names are Jos Buttler, Travis Head, Phil Salt and David Warner.

The England skipper Buttler is second favourite at 11.0, Travis Head is 12.0, and Phil Salt is 13.0. In his final international T20 competition, David Warner is 15.0.

If this is to be the 35-year-old Kohli’s last World Cup as well, he will want to go out in style. We think he will, and make him our prediction to be the top batsman at 7.5 with Cricbaba.

Top Bowler

Another Indian is the favourite to win in this market. Jasprit Bumrah at 7.0.

We believe those odds are a touch too short for the Mumbai Indians quick, and although he was the third-highest wicket-taker at the IPL in 2024, we are not betting on him.

Australia’s Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are both 12.0. Starc played a huge role in winning the IPL final, but overall, he had a disappointing competition. Cummins would be a better bet out of the two.

But when it comes to T20, pace off can be the key. Wanindu Hasaranga’s leg-spin took the most wickets (15) in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He was closely followed by the medium-pace seam bowling of Sam Curran and Bas de Leede, who both picked up 13 wickets, proving that seam does have a role to play.

We feel it will be a pace-off bowler who again tops the wicket-takers and we are going for that player to be Australia’s Adam Zampa at 13.0 with Rajabets. Zampa was second only to Mohammed Shami at the 2023 ICC World Cup, and Shami had a competition that was out of this world.

Zampa was also the joint-second-highest wicket-taker in the 2021 T20 World Cup with 13 victims. The statistics show that Zampa is always there or thereabouts.

Bet on Adam Zampa to be the Top Bowler at 13.0 with Rajabets

Tournament Winner

We’ve already named Australia as our betting tip to win the 2024 T20 World Cup. Why? Well, for several reasons.

Australia won this competition in 2021. They followed that up by winning the 2023 ICC World Cup in India last year. They’ve won two of the three most recent ICC competitions, and they will believe they can add another title this month.

Even though we don’t see them dominating the batting (India looks stronger in this department), we can see Australia being too strong in the field for all the other teams.

They are a well-drilled bowling unit, backed up by some of the sharpest fielders in world cricket, who hate giving away cheap runs. And in the pace department, they have the best combination in the world in Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

Anytime Australia has that fast bowling trio on the pitch, they have a chance. And if Travis Head can bring his World Cup and IPL form to this competition, alongside Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, and their big-hitting middle-order, we can see Australia having too much for the other nations.

Australia also knows how to get over the line in tight matches. They are probably the best team in the world at doing this. And with the core nucleus of their squad all very mature and vastly experienced cricketers, we feel they will add the T20 World Cup to their 50-over World Cup win.

South Africa to reach the final

The current Australia team is packed with match winners at the top of their game who we think will win the World Cup. But what about the other nations?

We’ve been looking at the underdog nations and their squads, and for a dark horse bet, we like the look of South Africa.

In Aiden Markram, the Proteas have a proven leader, with the batter having previously also led the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL. Markram is coming into the prime of his career, and although some punters see his South Africa side as chokers, they did show at last year’s 50-Over World Cup that this current bunch can match it with the best.

West Indies to win Group C

The West Indies have been given a free hit at this year’s World Cup by qualifying automatically as hosts.

After missing out on the ICC World Cup in 2023, and finishing bottom of a group containing Zimbabwe, Ireland and Scotland at the 2022 T20 World Cup, this bet might sound a bit mad.

Thankfully for world cricket, the Windies have been rebuilding their T20 team over the past 18 months. As a result, they come into this competition looking far more organised and competitive under the captaincy of Rovman Powell.

Unfortunately for fans of the hosts, we don’t feel they have the bowling strength to go all the way. But up against an ageing New Zealand team that looks to be coming to the end of its natural cycle and Afghanistan, we say that the Windies can win Group C. You can back them to top the group at 2.10 with Rajabets.

My cricket betting tips for anyone betting on ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

The best cricket betting sportsbooks make England their third favourite. As the current defending champions of the T20 World Cup, it would be foolish to write off England’s chances. But at the same time, the team does look like one in transition. So Jos Buttler’s side is one I would avoid betting on in the outright winner markets.

One person who is worth betting on is Travis Head of Australia. The opening batter is 3.25 to be the top Australian batsman. His rivals are David Warner at 3.50 and Mitchell Marsh at 5.00.

Out of those, Warner has had an awful run in recent weeks, he can count himself lucky to be in the squad. Mitchell Marsh is probably Head’s biggest rival to score the most runs. But Marsh can be a bit hit-and-miss. I feel that makes Travis Head worth a wager at 3.25 with Cricbaba.

Another batsman I like the look of is Aiden Markram. He is 4.50 to be the top South African batter, behind Quinton de Kock (3.00) and Reeza Hendricks (4.00).

Markram is South Africa’s go-to man. If they are to be a threat in this competition, he will have to fire and be at his best. I’m backing the 29-year-old to be South Africa’s leading run scorer at 4.50 with Rajabets.
