Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening match in Dunedin. The visitors had the better of the conditions, but couldn’t capitalise. A spirited fightback from the hosts, assisted by a crucial drop, saw themꦫ recover from 5/2 in the first over to go on and win the match.

This was Bangladesh’s chance to get a foothold in the series, but they simply weren’t g🐭ood enough. Sadly for the Tigers, that is the way we also expect the second match to go.

2. Tom Latham to be top Run Scorer – 7.60 at Rajabets

Tom Latham is captaining the New Zealand side, and he is leading by example. In the opening match, he showed what good form he is in, scoring 92 off 77 balls in a 171-run parܫtnership with Will Young.

Coming in at No.4 protects Latham against the new ball (although it didn’t in Dunedin). If the openers can take the sting out of the new ball attack, it sets the skipper up perfectly to play the anchor role and if required, attack late on.

If Bangladesh bats first, this is a great bet with the ball possibly swinging around. Milne is a good exponent of swing, and we would expect him to pick up at least one wicket early on. 

If he doesn’t get the two wickets required in his opening spell, he always has another chance later on during the death overs. At that stage of the match, he may go for a few. But on the flip side, he can also pick up some very cheap wickets. 

Milne took two wickets in the o🌠pening match so is in good nick.

No rain is forecast for Wednesday, with a full day’s play on the cards. Like at a lot of Kiwi grounds, the new ball can do a bit of talking first thing in the morning at the Saxton Oval. But e💟xpect things to settle down for a good contest between bat and ball after that. This will only be the ninth time New Zealand has played here. In the previous eight, they won six and lost one, with one no result.
