BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia opens up on Suryavanshi’s future
Speaking about the young batter’s future prospects, Saikia expressed immense confidence in Suryavanshi’s ability to succeed at the highest level. He revealed that India’s selectors had closely tracked performances throughout the IPL and indicated that Suryavanshi remains firmly on their radar ahead of upcoming selection meetings.
According to the BCCI secretary, selectors have been monitoring IPL matches closely and will make decisions that best support the teenager’s long-term development. He described Suryavanshi as Indian cricket’s latest “wonderkid” and suggested that the youngster possesses the talent required to make a significant impact on the global stage. Saikia also noted that while several players delivered impressive IPL campaigns, Suryavanshi’s achievements stood apart because of his age, temperament and consistency throughout the season.
“Vaibhav is Indian cricket’s new wonderkid, and I am fully confident that he will make a huge impact on the world stage in the coming years. All of our selectors are involved with the IPL and have been closely monitoring every match, often from inside the stadium itself. When the next selection meetings take place for India’s tour of the UK, I am sure the selectors will do what is necessary and what is best for him, considering the performances he has delivered. Many players have had outstanding seasons, but Vaibhav is truly special. I am delighted that Indian cricket has found a new wonderkid, and I believe he will soon surpass every expectation placed upon him,” Saikia told Hindustan Times.
