In a run-filled encounter at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, UP Warriorz Women registered a confident 22-run victory over Mumbai Indians Women in Match 10 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Mumbai were put under pressure early as UP’s top order delivered a batting masterclass to post an imposing 187/8.

Meg Lanning, Phoebe Litchfield power UP Warriorz to a strong total

UP Warriorz lost Kiran Prabhu Navgire early for a first-ball duck, but the setback barely slowed them down. Captain anchored the innings with a composed yet authoritative 70 off 45 balls, peppering the boundary with 11 fours and two sixes. She found an ideal partner in Phoebe Litchfield, who continued her impressive form with a fluent 61 off 37 deliveries, ensuring the scoring rate never dipped.

After the strong opening stand, UP Warriorz maintained momentum through valuable contributions from Harleen Deol (25 off 16) and Chloe Tryon (21 off 13). Despite a mini-collapse towards the end, the Warriorz finished with a formidable total. For Mumbai, Amelia Kerr was the standout with the ball, claiming 3/28 in her four overs, while Natalie Sciver also impressed with figures of 2/22.

Chasing 188, Mumbai Indians Women never quite found early momentum. Regular wickets in the powerplay kept them on the back foot, despite brief cameos from Hayley Matthews and Natalie Sciver. Captain struggled to accelerate, managing 18 off 21 balls as the required rate steadily climbed.

The chase was revived by a spirited partnership between Kerr and Amanjot Kaur. Kerr played a brilliant knock of 49 off just 28 balls, while Amanjot complemented her perfectly with a powerful 41 off 24, striking three sixes to keep hopes alive. However, disciplined bowling at the death ensured Mumbai fell short at 165/6.

UP Warriorz’s bowling unit delivered a collective effort under pressure. Shikha Pandey led the way with two crucial wickets, while Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma chipped in with one apiece to break partnerships at key moments. Their control in the final overs proved decisive.
