In the electrifying sixth match of Big Bash League 2025-26 at Brisbane’s Gabba on December 19, Perth Scorchers clashed with Brisbane Heat under lights. Heat captain Nathan McSweeney won the toss and opted to field first, setting the stage for a high-octane T20 showdown between two early-season heavyweights. Scorchers, fresh off a rain-affected win over Sydney Sixers, aimed to build momentum against a Heat side reeling from a 14-run loss to Melbourne Renegades.

Finn Allen unleashes a gigantic 105-metre six against Jack Wildermuth in BBL|15 clash

Finn Allen produced a night of pure carnage with the bat as Perth Scorchers delivered one of the most destructive batting performances in Big Bash League history, headlined by a monstrous 105-metre six that left players and fans in disbelief. The moment came in the 11th over when Allen picked up a full, slower delivery from Jack Wildermuth outside off stump. Stepping forward with supreme confidence, the Kiwi opener extended his arms and unleashed a ferocious swing, sending the ball sailing over midwicket and crashing into the second tier of the stands. The strike was not just a show of brute power but also brought up Allen’s half-century in just 26 balls, a milestone that summed up his blistering intent and form.

By then, the Scorchers were already in complete command at 133 for one, with Allen unbeaten on 52 and striking at a rate well above 200. Brisbane Heat’s bowlers had no answers as anything in Allen’s hitting arc was punished mercilessly. Wildermuth, despite his experience, endured a torrid spell as he leaked runs heavily, a reflection of the nightmare it is to bowl to Allen when he gets going.

Perth Scorchers put up a massive total against Brisbane Heat

Allen’s assault laid the foundation for an extraordinary total of 257 for six in 20 overs, as the Scorchers completely overwhelmed the Heat on a flat surface. The powerplay set the tone, with Perth racing to 40 for one and never easing off the accelerator. Cooper Connolly played the perfect partner to Allen, matching him stroke for stroke as the pair stitched together a sensational 142-run stand in just 11.5 overs. Both batters reached their fifties in rapid time, with boundaries raining all around the ground and the scoreboard ticking at a frightening pace.

The Heat managed to claw back slightly after the drinks break, with Shaheen Shah Afridi finally dismissing Allen for a scintillating 79 off 38 balls. However, even that breakthrough did little to slow the Scorchers. Cameos from Aaron Hardie, Ashton Turner and Nick Hobson ensured the pressure remained relentless, especially in the final five overs where Perth added another 71 runs. Laurie Evans provided the finishing touches, remaining unbeaten as the Scorchers surged past the 250 mark.
