South Africa’s chase began with a 52-run opening stand between captain Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits, but the momentum shifted dramatically when Amanjot Kaur produced a stunning run out to dismiss Brits, giving India their first breakthrough in the final.​

The pivotal moment came in the 10th over when Brits nudged the ball into the on-side and called for a quick single. Amanjot, fielding at mid-on, swooped in with lightning speed, picked up the ball, and unleashed a direct hit at the non-striker’s end.

Brits, caught short of her ground, was run out for 23 off 35 balls, ending the promising opening partnership and sending shockwaves through the South African camp. The Indian players erupted in celebration, as the run out not only broke the opening stand but also lifted India’s spirits at a crucial juncture in the match.​

India’s bowling attack was clinical from the outset, with Renuka Singh leading the charge with a tidy 5-0-18-0 spell. Kranti Gaud, Amanjot Kaur, Deepti Sharma, and Shree Charani all contributed with disciplined lines and lengths, keeping the scoring rate in check.

Charani struck early, removing for a duck, while the spinners ensured the middle overs remained tight. South Africa reached 78/2 in 15 overs, needing 221 more runs at a required rate of 6.31, but India’s bowlers had already set the tone for a tense chase.
