In his post on X, Pichai wrote that Team India’s achievement would inspire a new generation of cricketers, while commending South Africa for their spirited campaign in their first-ever final appearance.

His words captured the wave of emotion and national pride that swept across India as Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma powered the team to history. Both all-rounders delivered match-winning performances—Shafali top-scoring with a thrilling 87 and picking up key wickets, while Deepti took a memorable five-wicket haul to seal India’s win.

The victory came just days after India had produced one of the tournament’s most memorable chases, knocking out defending champions Australia while chasing a record 339. That semifinal win, shaped by Jemimah Rodrigues’ century and a characteristically fearless innings from skipper Harmanpreet, set the stage for India’s long-awaited global coronation.

The final itself showcased India’s balance and tactical excellence. After posting a competitive 298/7, thanks to the efforts of Shafali and Deepti, India’s bowlers-maintained discipline even as South Africa’s openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits laid a steady foundation in their 299-run chase.
