Cricket fans worldwide are buzzing with anticipation as the Ashes 2025-26 draws near. England will tour Australia for what promises to be a gripping contest between two of cricket’s oldest rivals. The pressure is high on both sides, with Australia defending the Ashes at home and England aiming to reclaim the urn on foreign soil. Historically, England have struggled to beat Australia on their own turf, with their last Ashes series win Down Under dating back to 2011. Expectations are sky-high for the visitors, who will need to overcome both the Australian conditions and the formidable home crowd to make a mark in this high-stakes series.

David Warner predicts the scoreline of Ashes 2025-26

Former Australian opener David Warner recently shared his bold prediction for the series during the Kayo Sports’ Summer of Cricket launch. Warner dismissed the notion of an easy contest for England, emphasizing Australia’s motivation to play for the Ashes compared to what he called a ‘moral victory’ for the visitors.

“The Australian way will prevail because we’re playing for the Ashes and they’re playing for a moral victory. There’s your headline,” Warner said.

When pressed about the potential series scoreline, Warner confidently forecasted a 4-0 win for Australia. He acknowledged the possibility of a washout in one of the matches, typically in Sydney, or suggested that England could seize an advantage if captain Pat Cummins misses a game.

“I’ll just stick with 4-0. There’s going to be a washout somewhere, it’s generally Sydney. 4-0 it will be. It is going to be a great series. All dependent on captain Pat Cummins. If the captain doesn’t play, they might win one game. If Cummins is there, 4-0. If not, they probably win one game only,” Warner added.

Pat Cummins’ availability remains uncertain for Perth Test

Adding another layer of intrigue to the series, Australia’s captain and spearhead Cummins may miss the opening Test in Perth, starting November 21. Cummins has been recovering from a back injury and recently described his chances of playing the first Test as ‘less likely than likely.’ His absence would be a significant blow to Australia, as the fast bowler has not bowled since the last Test series in the Caribbean in July and has been sidelined since being diagnosed with a lumbar bone stress issue in early September.

“I’d say probably less likely than likely, but we’ve still got a bit of time,” said Cummins while talking to reporters on Monday.

Cummins’ fitness will be closely monitored in the coming weeks, and his participation—or lack thereof—could play a pivotal role in shaping the series outcome. If he misses any matches, Warner’s prediction suggests England may have a slim opportunity to make an impact.
