Ben Stokes’ mid-match yawn goes viral after Shastri’s comic twist on air

Caught entirely off-guard by the live broadcast, England skipper Ben Stokes was seen letting out a full-fledged yawn, visibly fatigued and unaware that the television feed had locked onto him. Draped in his training kit and leaning back in his chair, Stokes was momentarily lost in the early morning haze, probably still collecting his thoughts for what promised to be a high-pressure day ahead. But Ravi Shastri,  never one to miss an opportunity, pounced on the moment with his trademark wit and impeccable timing.

“Morning, Ben!” Shastri chimed in from the commentary box, delivering the line with a smirk that cricket fans could almost hear through their screens.

It was the kind of quickfire quip only Shastri could pull off, dry, cheeky, and perfectly timed. Stokes, realising instantly that he was on camera mid-yawn, snapped out of his slump and sat upright, eyes widening as he tried to regain composure. The entire sequence lasted mere seconds, but it had commentators, viewers, and social media in splits. Within minutes, the clip spread like wildfire online.

Day 4 starts with fire as Mohammed Siraj rattles England’s top-order

If Day 3 ended with tempers boiling over, Day 4 ignited instantly as Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj unleashed fury with the new ball. England’s openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were greeted with steep bounce, movement off the pitch, and raw pace. Siraj struck the first blow within minutes, dismissing Duckett for 12 with a delivery that nipped back in and trapped him. Siraj then turned celebratory theatrics up a notch, walking towards Duckett and celebrating animatedly, forcing the umpires to step in and calm tensions between the two sides. After that Siraj gave another blow to England by removing Ollie Pope through lbw manner. After that it was Nitish Kumar Reddy‘s turn as he then dismissed Crawley who was caught at gully by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
