India eye crucial Manchester win to keep series alive

With India trailing 2-1 in the series, a win in Manchester becomes imperative to stay alive in the contest. After a dominant victory in Edgbaston, Team India suffered a heartbreaking 22-run defeat at Lord’s. Under a new captain and without the legendary trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, the pressure to deliver is immense. India’s red-ball performances in recent times have come under heavy scrutiny following back-to-back disappointing results.

It all began with a shock whitewash at home against New Zealand last year, followed by a crushing defeat to Australia in the  Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. That loss saw India slip to No. 3 in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, knocking them out of contention for the WTC 2025 Final. The fourth Test in Manchester now presents a golden opportunity for India to reclaim their lost legacy in Test cricket.
