England began Day 5 staring at a mountain of 536 runs for victory. Rain delayed the start of play, but once action resumed, Akash Deep hit the ground running. He struck early by removing Ollie Pope and followed it up with the prized wicket of Harry Brook, continuing the momentum he had built late on Day 4. His ability to extract movement off the surface and maintain relentless accuracy has been one of the highlights of this Test for India.
Akash Deep delivers a peach to dismiss Harry Brook
India’s rising pace sensation Akash produced a moment of magic on the final day of the Edgbaston Test, sending back Brook with a jaffa that left the crowd stunned. It was the third ball of the 22nd over when Akash delivered a back-of-a-length delivery that pitched well outside off and jagged in viciously to trap Brook plumb in front.
Brook opted for a review, hoping for a reprieve, but ball-tracking showed the ball clipping the top of middle stump. The delivery had everything — late movement, low bounce, and precision — leaving the English batter with no answer. The on-field umpire raised his finger instantly, and the decision stood, confirming a dream dismissal for the young Indian pacer.

India eye series-levelling win
Adding to England’s woes, Washington Sundar chipped in with the crucial wicket of England skipper Ben Stokes just before the Lunch break. Stokes had looked to settle in and lead a fightback, but his dismissal only pushed the hosts deeper into trouble.
At the end of the first session on Day 5, England find themselves in dire straits, still needing over 450 runs with only four wickets in hand. With conditions favouring the bowlers and India firmly on top, Rohit Sharma’s men will be eager to wrap up proceedings and level the series, having lost the opening Test at Headingley.
