The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction turned out to be a grand spectacle, with franchises going all out to secure the best cricketing talent from the capital region. A total of 520 players went under the hammer, and the buzz was driven by marquee names like Simarjeet Singh, Nitish Rana, Prince Yadav, and Digvesh Rathi, who fetched hefty sums.

This year’s auction also saw the introduction of two new franchises, making it a competitive eight-team contest. Each team had a purse of INR 1.50 crore and was permitted to retain only one player ahead of the bidding war.

Top buys and franchise strategies

The Central Delhi Kings made headlines by picking up Simarjeet Singh for INR 39 lakh, the highest price of the auction. With Jonty Sidhu already retained, the Kings are looking to form a strong core including young guns Yash Dhull and Pranshu Vijayran. The East Delhi Riders focused on strengthening their pace battery with the acquisition of Navdeep Saini, while also smartly using their RTM card to bring back Mayank Rawat.

The New Delhi Tigers aimed to bolster their batting, roping in Prince for INR 33 lakh and Hiten Dalal to complement their retained captain Himmat Singh. Meanwhile, North Delhi Strikers stayed loyal to Harshit Rana and made calculated additions, including left-arm pacer Kuldip Yadav.

Purani Dilli 6 continued with star player Rishabh Pant, adding strength with marquee pick Lalit Yadav and emerging players like Vansh Bedi and Dev Lakra. South Delhi Superstarz, despite losing Priyansh Arya to Outer Delhi Warriors, picked up Digvesh for INR 38 lakh and retained Ayush Badoni. West Delhi Lions made a statement by signing Nitish (INR 34 lakh) and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma, alongside their retained talent Ayush Doseja.
