In a high-voltage IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kohli smashed CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed for back-to-back sixes, electrifying the crowd and settling a personal score in style. This fiery exchange not only set the tone for RCB’s narrow two-run victory but also added another memorable chapter to the storied RCB-CSK rivalry.

The seeds for this showdown were sown during the first RCB-CSK encounter of the season, when Khaleel prematurely celebrated Kohli’s wicket, only for the decision to be overturned. Kohli, never one to forget, had then warned Khaleel after the game with a playful yet pointed “Ab tu aa” (“You come once again”), hinting at payback the next time they met.

Fast forward to the third over of RCB’s innings in Bengaluru. Khaleel steamed in, and Kohli was ready. The fifth ball was banged in short, and Kohli, anticipating the length, swivelled and hooked it high and handsome into the top tier over fine leg-a shot brimming with intent and memory. The very next delivery, Khaleel erred by drifting onto Kohli’s pads. The RCB talisman pressed forward and, with a snap of the wrists, launched it over deep square leg for another six. The stadium erupted as Kohli’s bat spoke louder than words, fulfilling the prophecy he had set in motion weeks earlier.

These two consecutive sixes not only avenged the earlier sledging but also marked Kohli’s 300th six for RCB in the IPL-a remarkable personal milestone.

RCB edge past CSK in a thriller to playoff surge

Kohli’s aggressive burst in the powerplay, alongside Jacob Bethell, propelled RCB to 71 runs in the first six overs, laying a formidable platform for the innings. Kohli eventually scored a blistering 62 off 33 balls, peppered with five sixes and five fours, before falling to a sharp catch by Khaleel himself-an exchange that reignited the rivalry and divided fans on social media.

RCB’s innings was further turbocharged by Romario Shepherd, who hammered 33 runs off Khaleel’s final over, helping RCB post a daunting 213/5. Despite a spirited chase led by Ayush Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja, CSK fell agonizingly short by just two runs, cementing RCB’s place at the top of the table with 16 points and all but assuring their playoff berth.
