The Indian all-rounder, known for her all-round skillset, made her biggest impact on the field with a direct hit run-out that dismissed Sri Lanka’s opener Hasini Perera, leaving the hosts rattled early in their chase.

The turning point came in the eighth over of the second innings. With India having posted a strong total of 275/9, Sri Lanka began their chase cautiously. On the first ball of the over bowled by , Hasini attempted a paddle sweep and rushed for a second run. However, Deepti, stationed at short fine leg, sprinted in and released the ball in one swift motion—hitting the stumps directly at the non-striker’s end.

Perera’s dive couldn’t save her as replays confirmed she was well short of her ground. The run-out came just when Sri Lanka were settling in, and the Indian camp erupted in celebration.
