Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli unexpectedly found himself in the middle of an online uproar after users noticed that his verified Instagram account had liked a few posts from a fan page dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur. The action, though minor on the surface, instantly caught the attention of social media users, triggering widespread speculation and chatter. With no initial response from Kohli, the incident gained further traction, turning into a full-blown digital controversy.
Rahul Vaidya mocks Virat Kohli
Shortly after the posts went viral, Kohli responded subtly via his Instagram Stories, hinting that the likes may have been a result of Instagram’s algorithmic glitches. His note read like a technical disclaimer, subtly suggesting that the ‘like,’ could have been generated without his direct involvement. However, instead of calming the noise, this explanation only added more confusion to the already buzzing topic.
Amid this brewing drama, singer and reality TV personality Rahul Vaidya jumped into the fray, indirectly referencing the incident. Through a series of Instagram Stories, he mocked the possibility of accidental likes, sarcastically stating:
“I want to say that going forward, the algorithm might like many photos which I didn’t do. So the girls, please don’t do PR around it. It is not my mistake, it’s Instagram’s mistake, okay?” Rahul wrote.
While Rahul didn’t mention Kohli by name initially, his comment was seen as a clear dig at the cricketer’s excuse, especially by Kohli’s supporters online. The matter took another turn when Rahul claimed that Kohli had blocked him on Instagram. In another sarcastic post, Rahul mocked the incident again:
“Virat Kohli has blocked me, as you all know. I think that, too, is an Instagram glitch. Instagram’s algorithm told Virat, ‘I’ll block Rahul Vaidya on your behalf.’ Right?,” Rahul added.
Rahul then doubled down with another scathing Instagram Story:
“Virat Kohli’s fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!. Now you’re abusing me—fine. But you’re abusing my wife and sister, who have nothing to do with this. That’s why I say you all are jokers. 2 kaudi ke jokers (worthless jokers),” Rahul stated.

Rahul Vaidya’s airport face-off with paparazzi regarding demeaning comments on Virat Kohli
As the controversy spiralled further, Rahul was spotted at Mumbai airport, where paparazzi questioned him about his derogatory comments toward Kohli. In a now-viral clip, Rahul clarified:
“I never called him ‘pagal’ (crazy). I called him a ‘joker.’ If I show you the screenshots of the kind of abuses I received—my wife, my sister—then you will understand why I responded that way,”
The exchange grew more heated when Rahul was asked whether Kohli himself had abused his family. Rahul said:
“No, not him. It was his fans who abused me, my wife, and my sister,”
A paparazzo chimed in, saying:
“Aap Virat Kohli ko ghalat bologe toh gaali denge na woh log (If you speak ill of Kohli, his fans will obviously abuse you),”
To this, Rahul responded with visible irritation:
“I didn’t say anything wrong. I’m one of the biggest fans of cricket. But I want an answer, why did he block me? There has to be some reason,”
Another cameraperson questioned whether Kohli would even have the time to personally block someone like Rahul. In a sharp yet sarcastic reply, Vaidya said:
“Toh bas theek hai. Humare paas toh bahut time hai. (Alright then, I have a lot of time),”
