The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a tournament full of twists, turns, and player movements across franchises. Over the years, many players have switched teams, leaving behind old colours to embrace new challenges. As Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) get ready to take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 57 of IPL 2025 at the iconic Eden Gardens on May 7, it’s the perfect time to revisit the players who have been part of both camps.
Here’s the list of players who have represented both KKR and CSK in IPL T20:
1. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane, a versatile batter known for his elegant strokeplay, has been a valuable asset for both franchises. Rahane played for KKR in the year 2022. However, after a dismal season he was released by the franchise and the next year CSK bought him for INR 50 lakh. It turned out too fruitful and he delivered at his fullest. Rahane was one of the reasons behind CSK’s 2023 title triumph. In 2025 auction, KKR bought him back with INR 1.5 crore, so far Rahane is leading the batting lineup of KKR this season. In 11 games, he has scored 327 runs with an strike rate of 147.

2. Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali brought his spin-bowling and explosive batting to both franchises. A CSK stalwart from 2021 to 2024, he won two IPL titles and thrived in Chennai’s spin-friendly conditions. In 2025, he joined KKR and made an immediate impact. His inclusion against CSK in April 2025, replacing Spencer Johnson, was a tactical move. His off-spin dismissed Devon Conway and helped restrict CSK to 103 for 9. Moeen’s familiarity with Chepauk from his CSK days gave KKR a clear strategic edge.
3. Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi is known for his versatility and played for KKR from 2020 to 2021, delivering consistent performances as a middle-order batsman. His ability to both anchor the innings and accelerate when needed made him a valuable asset. Playing for KKR in 28 matches, he has scored 627 runs with a strike rate of over 130. In the 2025 auction, CSK acquired Rahul for INR 3.40 crore. However, the season has been disappointing for him so far, with no notable performances in the five matches he has played.
