In the grand narrative of Indian cricket, three names consistently stand tall—MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. Their impact on the game goes far beyond just statistics. Each of them has carried the hopes of millions, delivered under pressure, and redefined how India plays modern cricket. Even in the 2025 edition of the IPL, their presence adds unmatched intensity and aura to every match they play. For any bowler, picking the wicket of one of these three icons could be a career highlight.
Arshdeep Singh shares his take on the most prized wicket in IPL 2025
Asked in a Star Sports interview which of the three giants—Dhoni, Kohli, or Rohit—would be the most prized wicket, Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh offered a refreshingly team-first response. He dismissed the notion of targeting individual players, instead focusing on contributing to the team’s success in any way possible.
The grounded mindset is what makes Arshdeep not only an asset for Punjab Kings but also a cricketer with leadership potential in the future. While fans might crave for moments like ‘Arshdeep dismissing Kohli or Dhoni’, the bowler himself is laser-focused on delivering performances that contribute to victories, regardless of who’s on the other end.
“There is no such wicket that I want to take. If the team gives me an opportunity, it is not necessary to take a wicket at that time. It is possible that I have to defend 10 runs. So, no matter who the batter is in front of me, I try to defend them. Whether he is out or not, it does not matter. But if the team wins the match, there is no such name that I have thought of that I have to get him out. My only effort is to take as many wickets as possible and when the team gives me an opportunity to stop the runs, I try to stop the runs,” said Arshdeep.

Consistent performance for Punjab Kings
Arshdeep has been a vital cog in Punjab’s bowling lineup this season. In 9 matches, he has scalped 11 wickets, with best figures of 3/43. His economy rate of 8.62 may not lead the charts, but his ability to bowl tough overs—especially in the death—makes him one of the most trusted bowlers for the franchise.
What makes his performance stand out is the context: Punjab Kings have had an up-and-down season so far, but Arshdeep’s consistency has helped them stay competitive. With 5 wins from 9 games, Punjab are currently positioned 5th in the points table. They now head into a crucial phase of the tournament with their eyes firmly set on the IPL 2025 playoffs.
