The Indian team is on a high after their triumphant run in the Champions Trophy 2025. However, the long-standing debate on the impact of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the upcoming generation of players continues.

The direct effect of commercialization of cricket and the point that players now give less importance to play India while focussing more on the objectives of their IPL franchises has been a long-standing discussion point in the cricketing world. The latest one to add into the buzz around this issue is star wicket-keeper batter Rishbah Pant who has pointed out several harsh realities and his ow๊n experiences while sharing his thoughts on the matte🐷r.

Rishabh Pant talks about shifted priorities of players

Pant, who made his deꦉbut for the national side at a young age, talked about the paradigm shift in the priorities of moder🃏n-day cricketers and expressed his thoughts on the desires he had as a young cricketer trying to get an opportunity to show his prowess as a cricketer.

“Since childhood, I had only one dream, to play for India. I never even thought about playing in the IPL. I think today, people are more focused on the IPL. Of course, it’s a great platform, but I believe that if your goal is to play for your country, everything else, including the IPL, will eventually fall into place,” Pant said while speaking to JioHotstar.

Additionally, Pant expressed that having a larger mindset is key to achieving success, believing that if one nurtures such a mindset, success will eventua🍷lly follow. He shared that he always had faith in his ability to pl♔ay for India one day.

“If you have that bigger mindset, success will follow. I always believed that I would play for India one day and God has been kind. At 18, I got the opportunity to make my debut and I am grateful for that,” Pant remarked.
