The final encounter of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) between Chittagong Kings and Fortune Barishal ended in a nail-biting finish with exciting cricketing action for fans and analysts alike. Ultimately, Barishal managed to secure a win in the final of the Bangladesh‘s elite T20 league to win the coveted trophy for the second consecutive time and retain the title in an emphatic fashion.

A competitive total by Chittagong Kings

Barishal won the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka and elected to bowl first with an aim to bowl out Kings and assert early dominance in the match., However, their plans did not bear any fruit for the team due to a power-packed performance by Kings’ batters. The opening pair partnership between Khawaja Nafay and Parvaiz Hossain Emon placed Kings in the front during the all-important encount♒er.

The two batters garnered a total of 121 runs between them in 12 overs and played some emphatic shots at the centre of the park. Emon, in particular, was the star of the Kings’ innings as he saw his team through during the entirety of the innings and played an unbeaten knock of 78 runs off 49 balls with 6 boundaries and 4 towering sixes to his name. Due to a remarkable innings from Emon and contributions from Graham Clark who stormed a 44-run knock off🃏 23 balls, Kings managed to put together a total of 194/3 in 20 overs.

Tamim Iqbal’s masterclass led Fortune Barishal to a historic win

In response, Barishal did get the solid start it desperately needed. Openers Tawhid Hridoy and skipper Tamim Iqbal carved out a storming partnership as they put together 76 runs in 8 overs. Iqbal was the star of the show for Bariജshal as he wreaked havoc on Kings bowlers. Iqbal smashed 9 fours and a majestic six to play a 54-run knock off just 29 balls and lifte🐬d the spirits up for his team.

Following Iqbal’s dismissal, Kyle Mayers in the middle-order continued to carry on the momentum and put the BPL title holders in a commanding position to retain their title. Mayers scored 46 runs off 28 balls and developed partnerships with Mushfiqur Rahim and Rishad Hossain who contributed with 16 and 18 runs respectively to sail their team through in the finals of the coveted league. Ultimately, Barishal triumphed over Kings by 3 wick🅷ets with 3 balls remaining and retained the title for the second consecutive time.
