The final match of the 2-match Test series between Pakistan and West Indies had everything. History books were re-written, and the crowd witnessed an unmatched rivalry between players of the two sides. Bowlers dominated the course of the play while batters crashed like a pack of cards. Overall, West Indies outperformed Pakistan to clinch a historic Test win at the Multan Cricket Stadium at a time when odds were completely against them. The visitors ended their tour to Pakistan 🍬with their heads held high as they crafted a stunning comeback against Pakistan after a disastrous display with the bat on the opening day of the Test.
Pakistan succumbed to the West Indies bowling onslaught
Day 3 of the second Test started with Pakistan already on back foot at 71/4 with still a mountain to climb considering the pitch had already shown significant support to spinners throughout the series. The opening session too did not bring any relief for the home side as wickets kept falling in quick succession with the spin trio of Jomel Warrican, Kevin Sinclair and Gudakesh Motie rattled the remaining Pakistani innings.
While seasoned Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel was sent back to the pavilion by Sinclair, Warrican brought an end to the resistance from Kashif Ali, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha. After the traditional batters were sent back to the pavilion, it was only a matter of time when West Indies clinched the remaining wickets and registered a monumental Test win against Pakistaඣn by 120 runs🗹. This is their first Test win on Pakistani soil in a span of 34 years. The last time a Caribbean side defeated Pakistan on their home turf was during their tour to Pakistan in 1990/91 when they triumphed over the home side by 7 wickets.

A master-class from West Indies bowlers
Even though West Indies batters crashed in the first innings, they made a stunning comeback during their second innings to score 244 runs in 66.1 overs. With a 9-run lead over Pak🔴istan after the end of the 1st Pakistani innings, the home team needed 2𒆙53 runs to win the final Test and clinch a series win.
However, West Indies bowlers had some other thoughts, in absence of experienced pacer Kemar Roach, who could not bowl after a groin injury on the second day of the match, the West Indies spinners ran the show and completely dismantled the Pakistani batting order. The highest any Pakistani batter could score in front of West Indies spinners was a 31-run knock by Babar Azam.
Warrican was the most successful West Indies spinner who clinched 5 wickets during Pakistan’s second innings and gave away just 27 runs in his 16 over spell. Sinclair and Motie too, supported him with their impeccable per🅷formances taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Pakistan’s 2nd innings could only last for 43 overs as they were bowled out for 133 runs.
The defeat had a detrimental effect on Pakistan’s position in the World Test Championship (WTC) table for the current cycle. With 9 defeats in 14 matches, they finish at the bot🔯tom of the table with just 27.98 Percentage Points (PCT). The West Indies on the o🐼ther hand, finished above Pakistan in the current WTC cycle with 8 defeats and 28.21 PCT points.
