Cricket was part and parcel of Varma’s life from a young age. As a child, Varma did not have the resources to go for private cricket coaching. But his first coach Salam Bayash, took care of his financial and equipment needs and ꦆmade sure that a talented individual like him gets the opportunity to learn and play cricket. Varma made his first domestic app🍌earance for Hyderabad during the 2018-19 match against Andhra Pradesh. He was only 16 years old at the time of his first-class debut.

2. A rare opportunity in the U-19 World Cup

After his first appearance for his domestic side, another positive development came in for the youngster next year in 2019 as he was selected in the Indian squad for the U-19 World Cup which reached the finals of the youth tournament only to get defeated by Bangladesh U-19 who were crowned winners that year. Varma sco♐red 86 runs in 6 matches during the prestigious tournament.

3. A dream run in the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

The next big moment in his career came when he represented Hyderabad in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and scored 215 runs in 🍨7 innings at a strike rate of 147.26. These statistics established him as the next big thing in the T20 circuit and paved the way for his future endevours.

4. The IPL saga

An impressive performance in the domestic T20 tournament paved the way for his entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the year 2022, Mumbai Indians bought the youngster for INR 1.70 crore. In the debut season, Varma scored 397 runs followe💙d by another emphatic run in the 2023 season in which he scored 343 runs in 11 innings and established himself as a regular starter in the coveted T20 league.

Through his emphatic performances and match-winning abilities, the 22-year-old has c🌼emented his place as a regular starter in the Indian tea🔯m. Varma has played a total of 21 T20I matches for India and made 707 runs with a strike rate of 156.07.

A key highlight in Varma’s career was last year’s tour to South Africa. In a remarkable display of his batting, the youngster scored 2 unbeaten centuries throughout the series. First at Centurion where🧜 he scored 107 runs off 97 balls and another one in the next match at Johannesburg, where he scored a remarkable 120 runs off 69 balls.

Varma’s parents, Namboori Nagaraju, an electrician, and Gayatri Devi, a homemaker, currently live in Hyderabad. Varma comes from a weak financial background, but his parents always supported his ambition of playing cricket and one day represent India. He also has an elder brother named Tarun Varma.

Varma’s ability is well-known within the Indian team. Indian ODI and Test skipper Rohit Sharma once proclaimed that he would o✤ne day be an all-format player for India; at th🗹at time, Varma was only 19 years old.
