In a significant announcement for Afghan cricket, the CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed that all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will retire from One Day Internationals (ODIs) following the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This decision marks the end of an era for one of Afghanistan’s most celebrated cricketers.

ACB CEO, Naseeb Khan, stated that Nabi’s retirement will take effect after the Champions Trophy, emphasizing that this decision comes after extensive discussions with the player. Nabi, who has been a cornerstone of Afghanistan’s cricketing success since its rise on the international stage, expressed his desire to focus on T20 formats while contributing to the development of cricket in Afghanistan.
“Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he informed the board about his desire,” Khan told Cricbuzz. He added, “After the Champions Trophy, what I understand is that he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now.”
