In an encounter between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) during the 26th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, Chris Jordan pulled off a fantastic catch to dismiss a rampaging Johnson Charles, preventing the SLK opener from r💝eaching a well-deserꦓved century.
Chris Jordan’s spectacular catch to dismiss Johnson Charles
The moment of brilliance came in the 13th over of SLK’s innings when TKR pacer Jayden Seales delivered a length ball outside off. Charles, who was batting fluently, attempted to smash the deꦅlivery over long-off but mistimed it, getting it off the higher part of the bat. The ball seemed to be sailing over the boundary, but Jordan, positioned at long-off, timed his leap to perfection. He plucked the ball out of the air, denying Charles his century and securing a crucial breakthrough for TKR. 𒊎Charles fell for a scintillating 89 off just 40 balls, which included seven fours and eight massive sixes.

Saint Lucia Kings post mammoth total
Despite the loss of Charles, the Saint Lucia Kings posted a mammoth total of 218/6 in their al💞lotted 20 overs. Charles was the star of the innings, providing a blazing start, while other SLK batsm𒁃en contributed to the imposing total.
The Trinbago Knight Riders skipper Kieron Pollard also played a piv🅘otal role, picking up four crucial wickets to stem the run flow in the latter stages of the innings.
In response, Trinbago Knight Riders struggled to keep pace with the towering target. Their batting faltered against a disciplined SLK bowling attack, and they found themselves in deep trouble at 138/9 by the 18th over. The chase took a further hit when all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who came in to bat after the ninth wicket, retired hurt after facing just two deliveries. With Bravo unable to continue and the team already nine wickets down, TKR’s innings was effectively declared, handing Saint Lucia Kings an emphatic 80-run victory.
For his breathtaking batting performance, Charles was named the Player of the Match, despite narrowly missing out on his century. His blistering knock set the foundation for SLK’s dominant win, which keeps them firmly in contention in the CPL 2024.
