In a stellar display of resilience, Musheer Khan, the younger brother of renowned Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan, scored a crucial century for India B in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024-25 match against India A at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The 19-year-old right-hander came in at No. 3 for the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side and displayed remarkable composure, facing 205 balls to reach the cꦆentury mark.
A steady recovery after early setbacks
Coming to the crease after the early loss of skipper Easwaran in the 13th over, Musheer faced a daunting challenge as India B found themselves struggling at 94 for 7 in 43.5 overs. Despite the precarious situation, Musheer anchored the innings with maturity beyond his years. He formed a crucial partnership with Navdeep Saini, who provided solid support with 29 runs off 70 balls. Together, they added 108 runs for the eighth wicket, lifting India B to a respectable 202 for 7 in 78.2 overs by the end of the day’s play.
The Khan brothers’ celebration
Musheer’s century was a significant milestone, not only in the context of the match but also in his young career as it was his first ton in his maiden Duleep Trophy innings. His brother Sarfaraz , who was watching from the dressing room, was seen celebrating the achievement with his India B teammates. The heartwarming celebration was captured in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on theღir official X handle, highlighting the bond between the🏅 Khan brothers.

Sarfaraz Khan’s struggle with the bat
While Musheer flourished, his elder brother Sarfaraz had a less successful outing with the bat. Coming in at No. 4 after Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s dismissal, Sarfaraz managed to score only nine runs off 35 balls before being trapped lbw by Avesh Khan. This dismissal was a setback for India B, as they had hoped for a more substantial contribution 🍌from the Test debutant, who had earlier impressed in his debut against England with fifties in both innings.
Musheer Khan’s tactical mastery against spin
Musheer’s innings was a masterclass in adaptability. Initially playing cautiously to counter the seam movement on a green Chinnaswamy pitch, he later took charge as the spinners came into play. Demonstrating excellent technique, Musheer swept the spinners effectively, punishing anything pitched in the fuller areas. Kuldeep Yadav and Tanush Kotian bore the brunt of his aggressive strokes, as Musheer struck 10 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten century🐈.
