The Netherlands kicked off their T20I Tri-Series 2024 campaign with a dominant 5-wicket victory over Canada at Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd. Chasing a competitive target of 153, the Dutch side showcased a blend of aggression and composure, with Michael Levitt leading the charge with a match-winning knock. Vikramjit Singh‘s fiery innings further propelled the Netherlands to a comfortable win with 23 balls to spare.

Nicholas Kirton Anchors, Ravinderpal Singh finishes strong

After electing to bat, Canada found themselves in early trouble, losing key wickets within the powerplay. Rayyan Pathan fell for a golden duck, while Aaron Johnson (4) and Dilpreet Bajwa (5) couldn’t make much impact. However, Nicholas Kirton held the innings together with a composed 69 off 58 balls, playing the anchor r🎶ole and striking eight boundaries.

Canada’s innings received a late boost from Ravinderpal Singh, who smashed 39 off just 18 deliveries, including four towering sixes. His fireworks helped Canada reach a competitive total of 152/5 after 20 overs. For the Netherlands, Kyle Klein was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs in his four overs, while Daniel Doram and Zach Lio𝓡n Cachet chipped in with a wicket each.

Michael Levitt and Vikramjit Singh shine in Netherlands’ chase

In response, the Netherlands started positively with Max O’Dowd contributing a steady 23 off 23 balls. The real game-changeꦏr came from Vikramjit, who tore into the Canadian bowling attack with a blistering 52 off 21 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes. His aggressive approach put the Dutch in a commanding position early in th🐟e chase.

Levitt then played the anchor role to perfection, pacing his innings of 62 off 47 balls, striking timely boundaries and ensuring the chase stayed on course. Despite a few quick wickets towards the end, the Netherlands crossed the finish line comfortably at 153/5 in 16.1 overs. Canada’s bowlers struggled to contain the Dutch batting, with only Harsh Thaker and Saad Zafar managing to take two wickets apiece.
