In a light-hearted moment during the 14th over of the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, KL Rahul’s humorous query about the rules of the IPL went viral. The incident occurred during a wide delivery from Shivam Dube to Pathum Nissanka, which was angled down the leg side. Nissanka missed the g🐻lance, and the ball flicked off the thigh pad. The umpire gave the ball wide.

KL Rahul’s hilarious query

As the team debated the decision, KL Rahul cheekily asked captain Rohit Sharma, “IPL wala rule hai kya?” (Is the IPL rule applicable here?),” Refer to the IPL rule, which allows reviews on wide decisions. In the IPL, players have the option to review wide calls, but this rule does not extend to intern🧜ational cricket.

Rohit was initially puzzled by Rahul’s question. It was only when Virat Kohli stepped in and clarified, “IPL mai wide bach jata hai na, issi liye bol raha hai vo, (In the IPL, we can review a wide, which is why he’s asking),” that the context became clear.
