The Indian cricket team‘s historic triumph at the T20 World Cup 2024, where they became the first side to win the title without losing a single match, has been rewarded handsomely by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The board 🐭has awarded the team a staggering INR. 125 crore prize for their exceptional performance th♒roughout the tournament.

The big announcement

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced the prize money on X (formerly known as Twitter), stating, “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!”

The prize money was handed to skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid during the gal✃a celebration at Wankhede ꦰStadium on June 4.

Break-up of the prize money

The prize money will be distributed among the 15-member squad, the four reserve players,💟 and the support staff, including coaches and selectors. Each player from the 15-member squad, including those who did not get a single game will receive INR 5 crore each.

The four reserve players – Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan – will be rewarded with INR 1 crore each. The coaching staff, including head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, will receive INR 2.5 crore each.

The rest of the backroom support staff, such as the three physiotherapists, three throwdown specialists, two masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach, will receive INR 2 crore each. The five members of the selection committee, including former India cricketer Ajit𝔉 Agarkar, will also be awarded INR crore ea𒊎ch.

In total, 42 members travelled as part of the Indian contingent to the Caribbean and the USA, including a logistics 😼manager, video analyst, and security and integrity officer. They will also be rewarded according to their respective roles.

According to a BCCI source to the Indian Express, “players and support staff have been informed about the amount of prize money they will be receiving from the BCCI, and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice.”

The BCCI’s generous gesture underscores the team’s remarkable achievement and the board’s commitment to rewarding excellence in Indian cricket. The players and staff will undoubtedly be motivated to continue their winning streak and bring more laurels to the country.
