Afghanistan continued their dominant run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea at the Brian Lara Stadium. Electing to bowl first, the Afghan bowlers restricted Papua New Guinea (PNG) to 95 in 19.5 overs.
Fazalhaq Farooqi Leads Afghanistan Bowling Charge
Fazalhaq Farooqi spearheaded the Afghan bowling attack, claiming three wickets for just 16 runs in his four overs. Naveen ul Haq (2/4) and Noor Ahmad (1/14) chippe𝓀d in with crucial wickets as well. The discipl𝕴ined bowling performance ensured that none of the PNG batters were able to build a significant score. Only Kiplin Doriga (27 runs) showed some resistance for the team.
Afghanistan Reaches the Target with Minimal Fuss
Afghanistan chased down the target with ease, reaching the finish line in 15.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Gulbadin Naib (49 not out off 36) was the star of the show, anchoring the chase with a well-paced knock that included ꧙4 fours and 2 sixes. Mohammad Nabi (16*) and Azmatullah Omarzai (13 runs) provided valuable supportꦏ in the middle order.

Fazalhaq Farooqi’s three-wicket haul in the bowling attack earned him the Player of the Match award.
