Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur shine with respective centuries

Electing to bowl first, South Africa Women were unable to contain a rampant Indian batting line-up. (136 off 120 balls) anchored the innings with a brilliant knock, smashing 18 fours and 2 sixes. Harmanpreet Kaur (103 off 88 balls) provided crucial support with a blistering knock of her own, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Valuable contributions from Dayalan Hemalatha (24 off 41 balls) and Richa Ghosh (25 off 13 balls) propelled India to a formidable total of 325/3 in their 🐠50 ﷽overs.

Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp’s tons in vain

South Africa Women came close to chasing down the mammoth target, thanks to a magnificent century from Laura Wolvaardt (135 off 135 balls), who struck 12 fours and 3 sixes. An equally impressive knock from Marizanne Kapp (114 off 94 balls), studded with 11 fours and 3 sixes, kept them in the hunt. However, India’s bowlers clawed their way back in the later stages, with Pooja Vastrakar (2/54) and Deepti Sharma (2/56) picking up crucial wickets.
