With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 kicking off on June 2nd, the Indian cricket team will be departing for the United States of America (USA) in two batches, keeping the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in mind.
The first batch of players will fly out on Thursday, May 21st, directly after the conclusion of the IPL league stage on May 20th. This group will primarily consist of players who are not involved in the 2024 IPL playoffs. The entire support staff, led by head coach Rahul Dravid, will also be part of this first contingent.
The second batch will depart for the US on Wednesday, May 27th, a day after the IPL final. This gr🌄oup will comprise players who ma🅷ke it to the high-octane finale.
New York City as the initial base
Both batches are expected to assemble in New York City, the venue for India’s opening T20 World Cup matches against Ireland on June 5th and arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9th. Their third group stage encounter against hosts 🀅USA will be played in the same city on June 12th.

The later departure of players i.e. after the IPL 2024 final, ensures they maintain their competitive edge and momentum leading into the T20 World Cup. This approach balances the demands of both tournaments and aims to optimize India’s chances of success at the global showpiece event.
