Mitchell Starc showcased a remarkable return to form during Match 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (May 3). In a standout moment, Starc delivered a devastating blow by clean bowling Ishan Kishan, sending his stumps 🐓cartwheeling for just 13 runs.
Mitchell Starc’s fierce delivery to Ishan Kishan
In the second over of the Mumbai innings, on the fourth delivery, Starc opted for a fuller length delivery, angling it sharply into the leg stump line once again. Kishan, aiming to play an aggressive stroke, swung his bat with intent, but this time found himself completely deceived by the pace and movement of the delivery. The ball skidded through swiftly, leaving Kishan completely beaten. Despite having previously been hit for boundaries by Kishan, including a four and a six, Starc remained composed and focused. He exacted his revenge by delivering a decisive blow, ultimately dismissing Mumbai’s opener.

KKR’s struggle and exceptional bowling by MI
Earlier KKR’s batting lineup struggled, resulting in an underwhelming score of 169/10. Their innings heavily relied on the resilient partnership between Venkatesh Iyer, who scored 70 runs off 52 deliveries, and Manish Pandey, who contributed 42 runs off 31 balls.
Despite this partnership, the overall performance of KKR’s batting unit was disappointing. They failed to capitalize on opportunities and were unable to build significant partnerships beyond the Iyer-Pandey stand. On the other hand, Mumbai’s bowling unit delivered an exceptional performance in this match. Jasprit Bumrah was particularly impressive, picking three wickets while conceding just 18 runs. Additionally, Nuwan Thushara also made a valuable contribution with his spell, taking three wick𒐪ets for 41 runs.
